She had been gone 15 minutes!

Some 80 year old woman got her accelerator and brake pedal mixed up.

Here are the rest of the pictures. http://www.kansascity.com/938/gallery/1177795.html

2. I think she's okay
The news didn't say anything about injuries.

7. That was a very smart move on his part, my dear Roon...
My MIL did the same thing at a similarly advanced age.

I know it's a tough decision, but it can avoid so much needless heartbreak.

Kudos to your Grandfather, sweetie...

10. Thanks Peggy
He still likes to go to the grocery. I drive, but once we are there he uses an electric cart and does all his shopping..then he goes back to the car while I take the cart to check out. I feel kind of funny being able bodied and using the electric cart, but the employees are nice about it. They remember us, they know what is up/ :-)

9. My dad hit a trash can at the end of his neighbor's driveway
He drove to my house (right down the street from his) and handed me his keys. He had been in only one accident in all the years he had been driving and it wasn't his fault. And he had only gotten one ticket. So when he hit that trash can, he quit driving.

I had worried for years how we would handle that day if it ever came. And he did exactly the right thing.

8. Lucky girl!
Glad that she was not there and did not get hurt. They didn't say from the captions from the pictures, was the driver ok? I do hope so!

11. That happened to me while in the room.
I was in my bed, sleeping, while I was hugely pregnant, and a little red car came through the wall and actually hit the bed and pushed it halfway across the room with me in it. Then the car took off- I think the driver was either drunk or half asleep- it was early enough in the morning that it could have been an early riser or somebody still working on the night before.

So here I was, ten days overdue, startled out of a sound sleep, there was a giant hole in the wall of my bedroom, and then it started to rain. We couldn't find the apartment manager or maintainance guy anywhere, so after the cop who took the report left I was stuck running to the store to buy some duct tape and plastic sheeting to try to cover the giant hole in my bedroom.

And then I started having contractions. Turned out that was false labor from the stress and the hospital sent me home. I didn't actually give birth for another 18 days.

That was April Fool's Day, 2001.
