1. My sympathies
I have it too, now and then (it's from my medications I take), but I haven't had an attack recently. And I DON'T miss it.

Where does it hit you? My ankles are the most frequent target and damn it hurts. What's worse is that I can't take Vioxx or Celebrex, etc.

2. It's usually in my feet, sometimes my knees

Right now my right foot is in so much pain, I don't think I could put on a sock.

Can you take allopurinol?

3. When I get past the 2 weeks after
colchicine. Sometimes, I get on Allopurinol and I have a flare up in the first couple days. I just don't get it. It's a terrible cycle.

My doc says that I shouldn't get gout now, since I am off diuretics, but it feels like it's decided to attack me at will.

4. You can actually get gout attacks from stress
most people don't know that. Maybe that's the reason?

6. It's a form of acute arthritis
It doesn't just cause joints to hurt, but the actual skin around the inflamed joint or body part sometimes becomes so tender that it's impossible to even put on clothing, as the slightest touch of cloth on skin causes a pain that is so intense you wish for death.

I'm not exaggerating either.

8. The old health food "nut" advice was to eat cherries every day.
Wonder if it would work. I have been hacking and coughing and strangling with pine pollen allergy. My brother suggested tupelo honey (our local honey) and two doses have completely cured me. Incredible.

9. I feel your pain
Missed a day of work two months ago because of it.

Colchicine and a steroid injection right in the big toe joint gave me relief within 12 hours.

The pain is so excruciating that I am getting chills just thinking about it.

Damn Uric Acid crystals...
