La la la, de doo doo doo, and na na na songs.
Edited on Fri May-08-09 11:15 PM by Common Sense Party
ANY pop or rock song containing nonsense syllables--ya ya ya, sha la la, dooby dooby do, etc. (Just not straight scat)

Post 'em if you've got 'em.

Please - don't be a dink: give a link.

I'll start with some of the most obvious ones.

To start, let's cleanse the palate with the old classic:

22. Mah Nà Mah Nà
"Mah Nà Mah Nà" debuted as part of Umiliani's soundtrack for the Italian mondo film Svezia, inferno e paradiso (Sweden: Heaven and Hell) (1968), a pseudo-documentary about wild sexual activity and other behavior in Sweden. The song accompanied a scene in the film set in a sauna. The lead part was sung by Italian singer/composer Alessandro Alessandroni.<1> The song also appeared on the 1968 soundtrack album released for the film. Enjoy:

Edited on Sat May-09-09 11:59 AM by Brother Buzz
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThquH5t0ow

I can't believe I didn't know the correct name of this song until my fourteen-year-old son set me straight. It's a combination of two songs and the root of my confusion, 'Papa-Oom-Mau-Mau' and 'The Bird's the Word'.

This version, Peter Griffin singing Surfing Bird by Trashmen has merit, too:

Edited on Sat May-09-09 01:12 PM by abq e streeter
it was one of me and my older brother's faves at the time....I not only remember those K-tel albums, (but not specifically "funky hits") but actually still have a copy of "Sounds Spectacular" (most of which sucks--lots of 2nd rate pop/rock and early disco,) ....On the temporary subject of Lee Dorsey, not so much from Ya Ya, but if you listen to old album cuts of his, you can really tell what a big influence he was on the singing of Toots Hibbert (of the Maytals)......fun thread, C.S.P.---------------p.s. sorry about being a dink, but too low tech to know how to give a link.
