Spoiled Brat Pissed Disney Won't Let MTV Film her $150k Quinceañera
A La Palma woman says she’s angry with Disneyland for refusing to allow MTVtr3s cameras to tape in the Disneyland Hotel this June her daughter’s $150,000 quinceañera, a coming-of-age party celebrating a girl’s 15th birthday.

Disney officials say that the issue is clear-cut — the mother, Marilin Vargas, 46, signed a contract a year ago without mentioning any taping for broadcast.

Close to $60,000 of the $150,000 Vargas is spending on the party for her daughter, Chelsea Krueger, is on Disney catering and the banquet hall at the hotel.

MTVtr3s caters to a Latin-American audience and airs a show called “Quiero Mis Quince,” a cousin to the MTV show “My Super Sweet Sixteen.”

Both use the same premise — they chronicle wildly elaborate coming-of-age parties thrown by the families of teenage girls.

“Who is Disney to say, ‘No,’ because we’re paying them,” Kreuger said. “I really want Disney to see the stress they caused. All my life I wanted to have a big quince, and (MTVtr3s) has the big shows and all the drama, and I wanted that too.

“I sent in, like, two videos — I was trying really hard, and they liked me,” Krueger continued. “It gets me so mad that they’re not going to do this MTV thing.”

Disney officials said that Vargas signed a contract for the venue and food a year ago and mentioned nothing about taping. It was only about a month ago that Vargas approached the company to see about the taping.

You poor fucking thing.

1. Wow, plenty of scorn to go around here...where to begin?
I think I'll start with parents who raise spoiled brats.

Actually, I'm fine with ending there as well!

2. Instead of filming, Mickey Mouse should take a bat to her parents
and Scrooge McDuck should tell her, "Dude, even I show some fucking manners and taste and know where to draw the line."

3. Agreed. And who is stupid enough to think the Disney Corporation would let
MTV, a Paramount/Viacom corporation, film at their park?

They're the owners of the fucking venue, idiot, and the ones you signed a contract with. Jesus, people are stupid. :banghead:

There are a lot of Disney haters out there; this gets them fired up and will hopefully (In Viacom/MTVs mind) attract them to watch the show at it's alternate venue, where the girl will spend an hour saying "who needs Disney, anyway?"

7. $150K for a FUCKING birthday party. Maybe the woman needs to STFU and get a fucking
life.

Goddamn people like this really piss me off.

My daughter gets a pizza party with her friends and has a sleep over with her closest friends and couldn't be happier!

8. I wonder what they'lll blow on her wedding?
It staggers the imagination.

I live in a house that doesn't cost much more than this girl's birthday party. I guess I picked the wrong job.

11. Coke, is my guess.
It really does stagger the imagination. I console myself by saying that all of the money spent goes to keeping us little guys employed.

25. I'd say my family is more fortunate than most, and there's no way we'd spend that
We have an older, but decently large home in an older neighborhood (built late 70s) with good schools, less than 5 minutes to shopping, near pleasant recreational spots, and 10 min from the freeway. Homes in my part of town go from 120K (3/2) to 500K+ (lake views, or mini-McMansions). Maybe it's upbringing (my parents - especially Mom - remember the Depression and war rationing), maybe it's because my wife and I can remember being broke: even if I had the $150K to blow, there is no freaking way I'd spend that on a "Sweet 15 party". Maybe I'd drop a grand or two -- nice party at a restaurant or hotel with a band and a limo, but $150K?????? Mrs. OBD and I could pay for my 2 kids to attend college at any public university (and some private schools) for that money; we could buy the kid a house as an investment; $150k @ 6% doubles every 12 years -- invest it for her at 15, and at her retirement, she'd have something like $3M.

27. ME?? Heeeck no.
This was my ex's little sister, and it happened before I met him. The girl in question is now an adult, and my son's aunt. The MOST I've ever spent on a birthday party was $200 for LyricKid's 5th birthday party, because he wanted a Tae Kwon Do party at his martial arts school. Most years we hardly spend $50, because I make the cake homemade. :)

28. My neighbor had hers at a rented VFW hall. It was taped by a cousin. The budget was maybe $2000,
I'd guess, and that included feeding her ENORMOUS extended family, the customary fancy dress, etc.

Somehow she managed to grow into a perfectly functional adult without getting a party that cost more than a decent house or having it broadcast on MTV. I had no idea just how put upon and neglected the poor thing was. :eyes:
