She had abosolutely no idea.....and was horrified when I told the story of how nobody in the world thought she could sing, cause whe was "so ugly". It started a conversation of "ugly famous singers" You can google this and find that Miley Sirus and Amy Whinehouse are considered ugly.

I never clicked on a thread that mentioned her because it was one of those Lounge spam days(weeks) that leaked into GD. Not unlike Star Trek currently. :P

I was telling someone about my constant avoiding of the news in general because I didn't want to know who the hec this person was that was so newsworthy.

She said, "Susan Boyle? She's a singer on a show like American Idol. You goof" (or close)

I thought she did something wonderful like save a country, or pull 12 kids from a fire, landed a plane on the Hudson...

I felt pretty dumb for being hardheaded that night :D

In that case I'm proud of you too.....there are much more entertaining and/ or useful things we could be learning than some of this crap. I admit, I too, follow this garbage on Access Hollywodd and such.......but it really is begining to cut into my time of productive activity, such as art, writing, making clothes, or just chillin.....

5. Miley Sirus was considered ugly?

She was an adorable little kid when she first became famous. Who the fuck would call a young kid like that ugly? That's just being mean and malicious for the sake of it.

You know it really pisses me off when people get arbitrarily judgemental and sexist towards girls and woman celebrities.

Boy and men celebrities aren't subject to that kind of absurd abuse. If boys or men are attractive they're called attractive. If they aren't attractive then they can still be accepted and famous. But girl and woman celebrities can be attractive and still be berated for being ugly based on the most superficial features that someone might not find perfect or ideal.

Boy bands are often ridiculed for their lack of talent. But it's their talent that is being ridiculed. Girl acts are ridiculed for their lack of talent, for their supposed or assumed promiscuity, or for their assumed future promiscuity and future trashy lifestyle, and for their their appearance. Their entire life is critiqued and judged.

Doesn't this sexism jump out at anyone else and really piss you off? x(

you are right, first of all, Miley is 16.....fucking 16.....and they dare to judge her on her looks and predict that maybe someday she will be as screwed up as L. Lohen, who is screwed up , in part, by people judging and criticizing her appearance when she was still a child herself........wtf

Also, something that REALLY pissed me off was all the google matches to "Ugly Female Singers" My sister and I were talking about how if you aren't attractive you can't be a famous pop star. I goggled that as a joke and got pages of matches, it made me ill.
