They can do that with EBT cards but they won't do with debit cards. They would rather ding your account with an overcharge fee and collect their money. If there isn't enough money in the account to oover the balance, the computer would show a "balance due" and you pay the rest of the bill with cash. We have the technology..I don't know why they aren't doing it..it's crap...

I had a friend who lost all her stimulus check to balance dues and over draft fees..she lost all 250.00 of it.

So is the number of low income people who wind up "unbanked" because they can't afford all the nickel and dime fees and get blacklisted from essentially all banks via registries of people who owe one of them money.
