and once again the specter of being uninsured has appeared in my life |

my poor guy is feeling so cruddy right now. his sinuses are congested, his ears are congested and his chest is congested. i'm not terribly worried right now because he had the same crud this time last year and i think it's due to the fact that his body is still not used to the seasonal changes here.
but still, i am concerned that it will develop into something that will require a trip to urgent care (and pharmacy) and that's just not something we can afford right now. i'm also a bit worried that i will catch it as i am due for my annual getting sicker than death adventure.
there is a low income clinic here in town, but you have to already be a client to go there. the wait list to get in is about six weeks, so i think i'm going to schedule us both for check ups so that we can go there if we need to.
anyone who tries to say that the our health care system isn't fubar has their head so far up their ass they're seeing the world from their own mouth.

just a quick in and out operation, the only way I was able to pay for it was by finding a doctor who was willing to bill insurance, then take the part I was supposed to pay as a loss because there was no way I could have paid it. Otherwise it would have been at least a couple hundred dollars EVEN WITH insurance.
And there aren't many doctors out there who are willing to do that.
He was kind of a cool guy though. He had that whole shyster lawyer "I'll make sure it works out, even if I have to jump through a few loopholes and twist a few rules" kinda attitude. But he used his powers for good. :)

Oh, sweetie...
Our so-called health system sure as hell is FUBAR.
I hope you two can avoid the really bad illness this time...
My very best to you both!
