6. The Mexican Revolution and the Mexican War of Independence are two different events |
|
Almost exactly 100 years apart. The revolution was against the old system that kept the people impovrished in debt servitude under Porfirio Diaz.

1810 was the beginning of the Hidalgo/Morelos revolts against Spain (War of Independence.)
1910 was the beginning of Francisco Madero's call for uprising against Porfirio Diaz, an autocrat (Mexican Revolution).

I swear to God that Porfirio Diaz has one of the best names in Western Hemisphere history. That and Lazaro Cardenas--love those Mexican names.
