6. The Mexican Revolution and the Mexican War of Independence are two different events
Almost exactly 100 years apart. The revolution was against the old system that kept the people impovrished in debt servitude under Porfirio Diaz.

12. Mex Rev =/= Mexican War for Independence, as Bucky says.
1810 was the beginning of the Hidalgo/Morelos revolts against Spain (War of Independence.)

1910 was the beginning of Francisco Madero's call for uprising against Porfirio Diaz, an autocrat (Mexican Revolution).

I swear to God that Porfirio Diaz has one of the best names in Western Hemisphere history. That and Lazaro Cardenas--love those Mexican names.
