DU, please stop the teeth ads |
|
They creep me out and make me less likely to visit. Plus, I have absolutely no interest in the product and think this is a singularly bad piece of online advertising. Please. Please? Am I the only one who's totally grossed out?

1. I agree in general teeth are sort of gross (outside a nice smile) |
|
I am not sure how much control DU has with their ads. Most major websites use ad companies like google. With those the ad company decides what ads to run.

2. And it's contradictory. On the one hand, it says you don't have to pay for white teeth, yet on |
|
the other, it talks about a housewife spending ten dollars. Granted, it might not be a lot, but that's still paying.

I posted about this last week when I thought the ad was gone. But it looks like it's back. Ugh!

5. The teeth ads are a credit card trap. |
|
Order the free sample and you'll be out $100 before you know it. I know... buyer beware. I will read more carefully next time. BTW they're refunding my money.

You can stop those ads yourself.
It's one of the options for paying members...
Just sayin'...

7. In canada we have distasteful pictures on our cigarette packs. There is a picture of a cancerous |
|
lung, a bent cigarette meant to mean impotence, a pregnant woman smoking with her children and on and on. The only one people reject and ask for another pack with another picture on it. It is the picture of cancer of the mouth with a full set of teeth. And this is something that happens constantly. People just don't like the look of sick teeth.

8. Pssssst... adblock is your friend |
|
Download yourself a copy of FireFox, install it, and run the adblocker. Instantly, all ads are GONE, and your surfing experience becomes a million times more pleasant.

9. I have 2 things to say: Revenue and Donation |
|
I have no clue what the teeth ads are but then again I'm a donating member.
DU uses the ads to generate additional revenue to keep this site open for it's it's members; however, has set it up so that those of us who donate do not have to see the ads.
Donations are not that difficult, even a $5 donation will eliminate the ads for a year (mind you there is a processing fee too).
But I know for some even that is a bit of a stretch in difficult times but consider this - those ugly teeth do help keep DU up and running. And DU has been a place of sanity with all the insanity we had for 8 years under the Bush Regime.
