Please, no more
I'm really at the breaking point ....My CT from Mayo found something....an "incidental" swelling of a lymph node ... unrelated to my disorder...but something he wants me to follow up on...if that wasn't enough...I wasted the last of my interferon last night trying unsuccessfully to inject myself- the syringe broke and sprayed the interferon everywhere. I was due for a refill last week but I think I'm at the end of my current script..which means fighting with insurance again. Plus I've just been really depressed about my personal life which is why I haven't been around. I could really really use a hug now..to know somebody, anybody cares...I've pretty much been alone all weekend so even some virtual company will be welcome.:(

I was looking forward to a long weekend but work called this morning. I am trying to avoid them right at the moment. I'm stalling until it is too late- that's my tactic.

I thought maybe you were still traveling, didn't know. Glad you are here now. Sorry about your troubles. Hope the lymph node swelling is nothing, often they are just a passing infection, but still good to check out. Fucking insurance company should be shot if they are continuing to give you trouble, the assholes. Here is a big hug.

and cut yourself some slack. I find when I feel the shittiest is when I'm beating myself up. Once I realize I'm doing it, I stop and just take it easy on myself. I always feel better almost instantly.

I am sure you are scared about the not knowing what is going on with the lymph node. I know when I have that kind of stuff, my mind plays the worst possible scenario game.

Take care of yourself, and find a way to pamper yourself.

35. The Mayo is looking after my father right now for cancer. Demand better treatment.
Edited on Mon May-25-09 06:31 PM by Mike 03
They are all over him, and they should not be leaving you to inject yourself! I can't believe that is the state of affairs for you at whatever Mayo this is. They would never in a million years let my father struggle with insurance or injection issues.

Please...

I don't know what the answer is. Could you contact your primary PA or oncologist?

The few times I have had to contact my father's PA or oncologist on his behalf, they have dropped everything to attend to the matter. My experience with the Mayo has been remarkable.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through.

Also, just to add, my father is also being attended to by the hematology division of the Mayo.

Maybe I could even help, if you could PM me with more data? I can't guarantee anything, but it's not like the Mayo to just abandon somebody with lymphoma and requiring interferon injections. Something doesn't sound right.

36. It is not Mayo 's fault
I have the option of going to my local hematologist if I wanted to. This is the first time in ages I had trouble doing the injection. Since I live 1000 miles from Mayo I felt it would be best if I learned how to do this myself. I have absolutely no complaints with Mayo... When it comes to fighting with my insurance company they are godsends. Thank you for your concern though...

38. Aloha pumehana, E ka honu
Edited on Mon May-25-09 08:43 PM by KamaAina
(pumehana = warm and flowing, like lava; honu = turtle)

That concludes the Hawaiian lesson for today. I had indeed noticed you hadn't been around. I figured you were off somewhere like Ocean City doing Memorial Day stuff. I actually am in an exotic, tropical resort, shacked up with a fabulous wahine -- but the resort is Waikiki, all of a ten-minute bus ride from home, and the female is Mom. :eyes: Ah well, at least they have free broadband...

Isn't this, like, the second time you've had trouble with the syringe? Why in the world would they use cheap syringes for something that expensive? :dunce:

You've pretty much been alone all weekend? What about Smokey and Sophie? Of course we're not supposed to dispense medical advice at DU, but why don't you "take two kitties and email me in the morning"?

How does "virtual company" work? Would you print out that pic of me and Opihi's Siamese and put it on the table next to you? I'd even try to make it talk (and purr) to you... :loveya:

edit: warma? Is that like "warm karma"?
