Now that Star Trek has been re-booted - isn't it time for someone
to do the Star Wars saga properly - like with a good script and decent actors?

1. Don't give Lucas any ideas
He might decide he should be doing the rebooting

3. He already did. In 1977...
He tacked on "Episode 4" once the movie had become a hit, which Lucas was unsure of because, despite the gloss, he was worried people would be bored with the plot. (I was, but I'm a nerd. A real nerd. A real dateless badge-certified nerd.)

2. Well, it wouldn't do much to make a better script...
Save for "The Empire Strikes Back", which is actually pretty damn good...

And decent actors - not A-list celebrities either... I may not like NuTrek's plot (what there is of one, which also seems to whiz on Gene Roddenberry but whatever), and the product placement ads were sickening, but the choice of actors was very good. Even Simon Pegg, who had troubles trying to act AND do the accent at the same time, was good. Then again, we didn't see him too much...

4. You have to make some sacrifices when you're using such a huge budget
For example, Winona Ryder provided the entire wardrobe for Star Trek. That freed up a couple million bucks.

Star Wars doesn't have that luxury.

6. This time around, no cute Ewoks. Either mean and nasty tough Ewoks
or no Ewoks at all!

8. The original trilogy was fine
Campy at times, sure, but that's sort of part and parcel for a PG-rated kid-friendly saga.

Now, the prequels? Yes, please.
