Help me out, please - what is being set back to March so as not to interfere with Christian holiday?
Edited on Mon May-25-09 07:17 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I was listening to NPR in the car and got distracted by a bunch of cars stalled and honking on the road, to the realization that there was a goose sitting there and they were trying to get it to fly away, which it eventually did...

and, when my attention came back to the radio, I heard something like "and so to keep it from interfering with (something about churches/Christianity) in the future, it will be set back to it's traditional date in March".

:wtf:

Any idea what they're talking about?

7. Aha! That's it! There was a problem with churches along the route
Edited on Mon May-25-09 11:17 PM by Rabrrrrrr
not liking that no one could get near them on the Sunday of the marathon because their streets were closed off.

Which proposal perplexes me, because, come on, why not Saturday? Why the fuck would anyone want a Sunday marathon, anyway? It makes no sense.*

But then again, we're talking about sports fucks here, and so "sense", "knowledge", "logical", "learning", and "education" are to be feared, hated, violently attacked and otherwise stomped out, and the meme of thinking "anyone else existing in the universe is anathema" is de rigueur. **

* Please note: The above sentence was written after three Martinis; the issue is that those churches on streets that were the marathon route, their parishioners couldn't get to the parking lots, etc., because the streets were closed down because the running guys. There is a proposal to make the run on Monday.**

** Please note: the above was, also, written after three Martinis, duh.

10. That's my term for anyone who thinks sports have value beyond the benefit of exercise
Like, the shitbags who think that "their" city's (or state's) team wins somehow reflect on them personally. Or the shitbag useless fuckwit assclowns who think their highschool's team performance somehow reflects on their self-worth.

I'm constantly and ever-amazed at the huge fucking percentage of American People who's only sense of self comes from the performance of ball-throwing/catching millionaire idiots with educations that mimic, on the best of days, a seventh grader.
