4. No, it would be descriptive. What would be judgmental would be implying that |
|
their being judgmental is wrong.
You can avoid that by not calling them judgmental, but rather calling them prejudiced, bigoted, hateful, ignorant, or whatever adjective best describes the underlying wrongness in their judgmentalism...

10. Right - what I was getting at was that it could be perceived as hypocritical to |
|
negatively judge someone for being judgmental. That appearance can be avoided if you judge them on something more specific...

It's an overused argument tool, if nothing else. We all judge others, intentionally and unintentionally. The best we can do is recognize this and not act on those judgments.

So is saying something nice about someone. It is impossible as human beings living in a society not to be judgmental. The key is to avoid being prejudicial: making unfair judgments without knowing the facts.
Fortunately for me, as a non-christian I don't have to pretend that exercising judgment is wrong.

I imagine we all judge in many ways throughout our lives. I also imagine we confuse 'judgment' with 'observation', and also 'critique' too (for what it's worth).
I judge people daily, and am judged daily. No big deal, right?
I judge someone will try to run that red light, so I slow down and adjust accordingly. I think it would be silly not to judge.
