How popular is DU among politicians? Does anybody know?
I guess what I'm wondering, is if they are aware of the site - and if they peruse it.

5. You'd think, right?
In the world of political message boards, this is one of the biggest. I've often wondered if they are familiar with it - and if they, or their aides, look in from time to time.

2. well, you'd have to assume a politician is a somewhat busy person
and a person who has any kind of schedule wouldn't have time to spend half their waking life farting on a message board.

6. Of course they're busy.
At the same time, though, I would *think* that they would be curious as to what their voters are talking about.

DU is a bit too unscientific.

14. that's different than keeping tabs on some of what's said here
and i'm sure they do.

and don't forget politicians spend a lot of waking time going to all sorts of things most of us would consider a waste of time.

3. Well my wife Michelle loves it. So do my children Malia and Sasha.
We especially love the LOLcats.

But I would have no idea whether actual politicians enjoy it or not.

4. Elizabeth Edwards (John's wife) joined up during the last primaries
so DU must be fairly well-read.

12. A few times, yes.
She seemed very nice. Naturally, some DUers took it upon themselves to be assholes. IIRC, Skinner confirmed that it was indeed actually her.

9. After reading GDP today, I hope NOT that popular
:scared:

My thinking is that some staffers/interns probably have the job of perusing the blogosphere to see what people are thinking. DU is probably one of them. I would think the actual politicians don't surf the internet very often. I also know that alot of the senior politicians are not all that ummm technology oriented and prefer to have their younger staff members handle that area.:)

11. I was kinda thinking along the lines of aides doing the job.

I'm just curious as to whether the politicians get any feedback on what they find here.

And you're right - sometimes that scares me, too.

I will ask my Uncle about it as he is one of the experts on media and politics.
