The Platters to The Inkspots.
The Platters did highly stylized and heavily romanticised love songs, "crooner" tunes, whereas the Drifters were more "slice of life" doowappers.
All three excellent groups, IMO.

I really only asked because I bought a CD that had both their greatest hits on there, thus drawing the comparison.
The Drifters front men made a big difference to their sound, but the point is taken about the Platter's highly stylized sound.
