It's Thursday again: what's for supper?
As many of you know, Thursday is the day I cook for my housemates.
I like to cook, and I like to think I'm fairly good at it.

My housemates, on the other hand...
Well, when I first came begging for a basement to crash in back in September,
these people didn't own a cutting board, a cheese grater, or even a WHISK.
They wouldn't have recognized a decent 'Chef's knife'
if it stabbed them in the ass!
How the hell they got to be my age without starving to death,
I'll never know!

Anyway, I like to use my 'cooking day' to broaden ther horizons a bit.
I try to make every Thursday something special, but not so "special"
that it frightens them off.

SO, tonight's menu:
A turkey and some Idaho potatos that have been buried
in 5 pounds of unpeeled garlic bulbs and roasted for 3 hours,
and a side dish of corn seasoned with pickled ginger, oregano, and coriander.
I stuffed the turkey with a tomato and half a huge onion;
I'll dice the onion and put it in a seperate bowl.

7. I haven't decided yet
I was considering making tostadas with black beans, hot peppers, avocado, fresh cilantro and tomatillos, but... I've been craving Indian food lately, so may just go out for once instead.

10. UPDATE: that may have been the best turkey I've ever had!
So tender and juicy. Just unbelievable.

And somehow, all that garlic ENHANCED the turkey's flavor
without overpowering it. I don't know just how to describe it,
but it was AMAZINGLY good!:9
