And yes, I'm serious about this - what he said today is what should have been said 40 fucking years ago.
"All we have to fear is fear itself" and "We will fight them on the beaches... we will never surrender"
and then "I have a dream"
and then today's, "this cycle of suspicion and discord must end".
Brilliant speech - doesn't really have the one-liner of the other famous and great speeches, but perhaps those 8 words are the most terse summation of the whole thing.
I summarize the speech as, "Okay, we've all done a bunch of good and a bunch of bad shit, and we need to admit it and then grow up because it's a small fucking world and we can't afford to blow it to hell".
