I predict ice hockey will become the dominant sport among cultural liberals... |

Why? Its dominance by Canadians and Europeans results in players who tend to see their greatness and the greatness of other players as resulting from dedication and teamwork rather than from some form of fundamentalist supernaturalism. There's none of this Reggie White and Baseball Chapel crap in the NHL. While MLB and NFL players scream "Praise Jesus", memorize the Bible, and make their non-Christian peers feel uncomfortable, Sidney Crosby is staying in the arena till 2 am running 500 shooting drills.
I despise the way fundamentalism in baseball and football has pushed progressive Black evangelicals and Hispanic Catholics towards conservative whitebread interpretations of Christianity.

1. That's something I've always liked about hockey |

I've yet to hear a hockey player talk about Gawd after winning the Stanley Cup. It just sounds so phony in other sports.

3. And very little, if any individualism, and what I mean is.... |
|
when you see players interviewed, it's always about the team, "WE" is the most used word, very rarely "I", unless they are owning up to a mistake, an errant pass or responsibility for something negative that happened, a goal or bad penalty, then, like a good honest person, they take responsibility. They don't blame, they don't make excuses, that stand tall and stay honest. And ego's, besides the one or two exceptions(Sean Avery see : douchebag in the dictionary) are rarely if ever shown and are always kept in check. Fighting is a release of bad energy, but done with respect amongst the tough guys in the game. To the point where I have seen 2 guys trade blows for a solid minute, then tap each other in recognition of a good fight. Take your penalty and start over. Simple.
