Top Chef Masters Starts TONIGHT!
:bounce:

"Top Chef Masters will pit 24 world-renowned chefs against each other and see how well they fare in the tried and true format of Top Chef. In each episode, money will be at stake for the chefs, with the winners of eliminations being awarded cash donations for their charities. The first six episodes will consist of four chefs competing against each other to name one winner. The six winners of each episode will then meet up for the final four weeks when one person will get eliminated each episode until the finale where one winner is crowned Top Chef Master. The winning chef will receive $100,000 for the charity of their choice."

2. Exactly!
I hope it's good. The Quickfires are going to be based on 'classic Top Chef quickfire challenges'

Tonight's is from Season 4.

3. Wylie Dufresne is on it -- he soooo annoys me because he's such an egomaniac!
So's Elizabeth Falkner -- I like her.

4. i like her a lot!
And Hubert Keller as well. I'm bummed that Eric Ripert won't be on this season.

But yeah, totally agree on Dufresne. He thinks very highly of himself and his molecular gastronomy. He forgets that he's NOT Ferran Adria. :P

5. His hair annoys me -- he's such a hipster (not)
I LOVED that Carla won the Quickfire with him last year -- AND HERS HAD NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE OVERRATED AND MOST ANNOYING MOLECULAR GASTRONOMY.

Maybe I'm a philistine, but I prefer to eat lobster, not lobster FOAM.

6. I had a meal recently that had...coconut foam on it!!
:o

It was Atlantic Cod with coconut foam, on a coconut milk broth with baby potatoes in it. It was...interesting. The fish was good, the foam was...weird.

7. It just seems icky -- I don't want foam to taste like shrimp or something
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 05:46 PM by LostinVA
Foam is something on my Chai, and tastes like milk. Or tastes like Guinness. And, I have an adventurous palate and eat some pretty Niles and Frasier stuff.

10. I'm most excited aboout the Quickfire Challenges.
from http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/04/bravo-tv-top-chef-masters-contestant-chef-lineup-list.html

the Quickfire Challenge will be a twist on the usual test of basic skills. It's assumed these folks know what they're doing, so look for things along the lines of the vending-machine amuse bouche challenge in Season 2 of original TC.

Also: "...Each Quickfire Challenge will be judged by a blind taste test and a five-star system, similar to fine dining reviews."

:woohoo:

Since some of the chefs have been Top Chef judges, it will definitely be interesting to see how they handle it.

Anthony Bourdain hates and makes fun of vegetarians all the time, eats every animal he can find and I still love him and his show!

18. He was such an ass when he was a judge.
I can only believe he needs to be in control and would never want to be a contestant.

17. so I guess this moment when Top Chef officially becomes the best reality show
or at least the most respected reality show out there. Since they're now pulling in true leaders, as opposed to people trying to make a quick buck.

20. I enjoyed it
Hi,
I liked it, I won't post any spoilers, but my favorite of the four got eliminated, I enjoyed the kids and the college kids that were involved in this episode and the situation they had to cook in.

Peace
