Okay, had enough of this now |
|
I woke up in the middle of the night hoping this broken elbow thing was a dream but...it wasn't. Damn, I use my right arm for a lot of things...

1. I'm so sorry, sweetie. |
|
I broke my right wrist many moons ago when I was teaching and it was sheer hell. I'm right handed and at the time was driving a stick shift.

I am so sorry to hear about your elbow. Although you probably already posted it, will you tell me what happened?

3. Tripped on some uneven concrete and fell |
|
Landed on my hand and broke my elbow. The right one, naturally. In the pouring rain; for a minute I didn't think I could get up and would have to lie there in the rain until someone came along but I managed.
Ugh. So did NOT need this now. But, I have a helpful SO and good insurance so it could be worse.

4. I hope its not too painful at least. ( and if it is, that'll gradually subside too) |

if its any consolation ( and right now, probably not) ,I broke both of my wrists in 1983, and had casts on both arms up to my biceps( yes, just for wrists--to keep my arms bent at the angle the doctors wanted) for 5 weeks( and shorter casts for 3 more)... You do sort of get used to it, and even though it seems like its taking forever, the casts do come off one day, and little by little you start healing, and one day its become just another thing that happened to you, and generally the source of a funny story or two. One of the things I learned how to do was tie my shoes without using my thumbs. And don't be shy about asking for help. I had a buddy come by every couple of days to take my shirt off and put a new one on me, and several friends who fed me until I was strong enough to grip food--that took a couple of weeks. It was actually kind of amusing going to a restaurant and having friends feed you. We'd get a lot of stares, but of the sympathetic /laughing with us, not at us type. Best wishes on dealing with this.
