4. stay awhile
Into my room he creeps
Without making a sound
Into my dreams he peeps
With his hair all long and hanging down

How he makes me quiver
How he makes me smile
With all this love I have to give him
I guess I'm gonna stay with him awhile

She brushes the curls from my eyes
She drops her robe on the floor
And she reaches for the light on the bureau
And the darkness is her pillow once more

How she makes me quiver
How she makes me smile
With all this love I have to give her
I guess I'm gonna stay with her awhile

How it makes me quiver
How it makes me smile
With all this love I have to give you
Guess I'm gonna stay with you awhile

How it makes me quiver
How it makes me smile
With all this love I have to give you
Guess I'm gonna stay with you awhile

Stay with you awhile

I guess I'm gonna stay

6. Pork and Beans - Weezer
They say
I need some Rogaine
To put in my hair
Uhmmm, uhmmm
Work it out at the gym
To fit my underwear
Uhmmm, uhmmm
Oakley makes the shades
That transform a tool
Uhmmm, uhmmm
You’d hate
For the kids to think
That you lost your cool
Uhmmm, uhmmm

I’mma do the things
That I wanna do
I ain’t got a thing
To prove to you
I’ll eat my candy
With the pork and beans
Excuse my manners
If I make a scene
I ain’t gonna wear
The clothes that you like
I’m finally dandy
With the me inside
One look in the mirror
And I’m tickled pink
I don’t give a hoot
About what you think

Everyone likes to dance
To a happy song
Uhmmm, uhmmm
With a catchy chorus and beat
So they can sing along
Uhmm, hey, hey
Timbaland knows the way
To reach the top of the charts
Uhmmm, uhmmm
Maybe if I work with him
I can perfect the art
Uhmmm, uhmmm

I’mma do the things
That I wanna do
I ain’t got a thing
To prove to you
I’ll eat my candy
With the pork and beans
Excuse my manners
If I make a scene
I ain’t gonna wear
The clothes that you like
I’m finally dandy
With the me inside
One look in the mirror
And I’m tickled pink
I don’t give a hoot
About what you think

No, I don’t care
I don’t care
I don’t care
I don’t care
I don’t care

I’mma do the things
That I wanna do
I ain’t got a thing
To prove to you
I’ll eat my candy
With the pork and beans
Excuse my manners
If I make a scene
I ain’t gonna wear
The clothes that you like
I’m finally dandy
With the me inside
One look in the mirror
And I’m tickled pink
I don’t give a hoot
About what you think
About what you think
About what you think

9. Tom Sawyer.
Seriously, do these lyrics really seem deep to anyone?

A modern-day warrior
Mean mean stride,
Todays tom sawyer
Mean mean pride.

Though his mind is not for rent
,
Dont put him down as arrogant.
His reserve, a quiet defense,
Riding out the days events.
The river

And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift.

The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his eyes are wide.

Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the space he invades
He gets by on you.

No, his mind is not for rent
To any God or government.
Always hopeful, yet discontent,
He knows changes arent permanent,
But change is.

And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the witness, catch the wit,
Catch the spirit, catch the spit.

The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his skies are wide.

Exit the warrior,
Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the energy you trade,
He gets right on to the friction of the day.

for an early (Season 3) Simpson's reference.

Bottom line: either song makes an effective ipecac.

That fateful night the car was stalled
upon the railroad track
I pulled you out and we were safe
but you went running back

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love

What was it you were looking for
that took your life that night
They said they found my high school ring
clutched in your fingers tight

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love

Just sweet sixteen, and now you're gone
They've taken you away.
I'll never kiss your lips again
They buried you today

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love
Teen angel, teen angel, answer me, please

35. Simple

http://www.scoutsongs.com/lyrics/ontopofspaghetti.html

On Top of Spaghetti

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.

It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

50. "Billy Don't Be A Hero" is VERY high on my list but "Playground in My Mind" is tops
Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 05:35 PM by Mike 03
By a guy named Clint Holmes

When this old world gets me down
And there's no love to be found
I close my eyes and soon I find
I'm in a playground in my mind
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day

"My name is Michael, I got a nickel
I got a nickel, shiny and new
I'm gonna buy me all kinds of candy
That's what I'm gonna do"

See the little children
Living in a world that I left behind
Happy little children
In the playround in my mind

Oh the wonders that I find
In the playground in my mind
In a world that used to be
Close your eyes and follow me
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day

"My girl is Cindy
When we get married, we're gonna have a baby or two
We're gonna let them visit their grandma
That's what we're gonna do"

"My name is Cindy
When we get married, were gonna have a baby or two
We're gonna let them vist their grandma
That's what we're gonna do"

See the little children
See how they're playing so happy
In the playround in my mind

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
La la la la la la la

I thought it was hilarious how they butchered the song actually.....

87. The best part of that video is the time code at the bottom of the screen
I was actually hoping they'd leave the SMPTE stream up so, like someone counting off the seconds as you're being waterboarded, you'd know how much torture you'd endured.

Of course, you know that when they suspend Shrub's Fifth Amendment rights and make him testify as to his administration's torture activities, we're sure to find out there was a hierarchy of torture: first there was sleep deprivation, then stress positions, followed by bastinado, then waterboarding, and finally for the real hardcases we locked them in the Harmony Hut and played Nirvana's cover of Seasons In The Sun over and over until they just gave up.

Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 06:36 PM by LostinVA
've Never Been To Me
( Charlene )

Hey lady, you lady, cursing at your life
You're a discontented mother and a regimented wife
I've no doubt you dream about the things you'll never do
But, I wish someone had talked to me
Like I wanna talk to you.....

Oh, I've been to Georgia and California and anywhere I could run
I took the hand of a preacher man and we made love in the sun
But I ran out of places and friendly faces because I had to be free
I've been to paradise but I've never been to me

Please lady, please lady, don't just walk away
'Cause I have this need to tell you why I'm all alone today
I can see so much of me still living in your eyes
Won't you share a part of a weary heart that has lived million lies....

Oh, I've been to Niece and the Isle of Greece while I've sipped champagne on a yacht
I've moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things that a woman ain't supposed to see
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me

Hey, you know what paradise is?
It's a lie, a fantasy we create about people and places as we'd like them to be
But you know what truth is?
It's that little baby you're holding, it's that man you fought with this morning
The same one you're going to make love with tonight
That's truth, that's love......

Sometimes I've been to crying for unborn children that might have made me complete
But I took the sweet life, I never knew I'd be bitter from the sweet
I've spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that costs too much to be free
Hey lady......
I've been to paradise, (I've been to paradise)
But I've never been to me

(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Neice and the isle of Greece while I've sipped champagne on a yacht)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to cryin' for unborn children that might have made me complete)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me

*I love how "Nice" is missepelled!

I nominate Muskrat Love as well. Celine Dion songs are good except for that suckwad Titanic theme.

And the Starland Vocal Band could sing three-part harmony well, so that excludes them from the Running of the Cheese.

In college we used it as a drinking game - the song was on a loop, playing over and over, and you couldn't leave the room until your 12-pack was gone. You've never seen so many people drink so much so fast.

"Mandy"

(I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they've been using this song at Guantanamo.)

I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
A shadow of a man
A face through a window
Crying in the night
The night goes into

Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
you made me so happy, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
I need you today, oh Mandy

I'm standing on the edge of time
I Walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind
And nothing is rhyming, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Yesterday's a dream I face the morning
Crying on the breeze
the pain is calling, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

85. Some useless trivia about "Mandy"
Manilow wrote that song with his producer Ron Dante. Dante had a few hit records of his own, but not under his own name. You would know him better as "Archie".

No, not Bunker........

Dante and Manilow also wrote the McDonalds jingle "You Deserve a Break Today".

88. The Manilow-McDonalds story gets around, but it's not true
The person who actually wrote "You Deserve a Break Today" was Keith Reinhard, McDonalds' account executive at the Needham advertising agency. Needham later merged with DDB, which was Bill Bernbach's agency. (Bill, of course, taught the world to "Think Small" and to "plop plop, fizz fizz" when they had heartburn. "Oh what a relief it is!")

This is a good interview with Keith about that campaign's beginnings:
