Do the USB turntables really work?
If I want to transfer my LP collection to MP3, are they worth the money?

1. If you already have a nice record player
You can plug your turntable into your computer using the stereo jack. Cheaper than buying a whole new turntable. If you're not going to go that route, there are some nice USB 'tables out there.

4. I bought a gizmo - a Xitel InPort thing
a little box, two RCA jacks on one end, and usb on the other. It does a nice job of copying to wav files. Then I use software called audacity to convert to mp3.

It cost a bit, but I've copied about 50 vinyl disks so far, not a problem.

I already had a decent stereo and turntable.

:hi:

5. they don't cost all that much - but electronic files aren't vinyl, that is for sure
still I'm lazy and records only last for what 20 minutes before you have to get off your ass and turn them over to the other side!

I would love to record most of my albums and play around with making good mix cd's.
