Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

So it is Monday again. x(
It is so damp here today that I almost feel like I am in the South :)

Saturday I worked again. It was a busy day. I started at 9am and worked till 5pm. From noon on I had not a minute to breathe. It was a constant line of customer. But being busy makes the day pass by faster.

Then in the evening two friends came over. We had planned to go dancing but decided to stay at my place and watch the movie "Sex and the City" and had champagne and strawberries. A fun ladies night. :)

Yesterday I slept a lot and sat on the balcony in the sun and read. It was a relaxing day.

1. Mornin' Miss H
I just got out of bed from taking a nap and saw your thread. That is a great picture. It reminds me of a place I know about in Virginia- a long road going up through the mountains. The view is beautiful, but I get scared a little because there is only a flimsy guardrail between me and a very long drop off the side of a mountain. My truck would go right through that guardrail like a knife through butter.

I had a good weekend. Just took it easy for the most part, but I did talk to a woman who lives close to me. We had a very good conversation and I've got a good feeling about her. :)

I weighed in at 211 on Friday. I had to buy some new clothes. I'm down to a 36 inch waist. That's down from 48. So a foot off of my waist. I don't know what all that means in centimeters, but I'm probably about an average size man now. Maybe a little plump. I haven't been this size since I was 19 years old. So I am happy about all of that.

It's good that you made time for leisure last weekend despite having to work. We all need to relax and have fun as often as we can. :D

I feel much better now days. It seems like when I am happy, other aspects of my life get better. Despite the medication I'm taking for my head, I still didn't feel very good about myself. My symptoms were gone, but I still was not happy.

I think finding a mate would make me happier still. I hope anyway. :)

Congrats on the weightloss. I know I need to lose weight too (about 40lbs) but I don't find the drive to do it. I am a lazy bum, I admit it. Where did you take your energy for it? And your commitment?

Good luck with the lady!!!

9. I just felt bad, Miss H
And I got tired of it. I still need to lose about 30 pounds, but I was about 110 pounds overweight, so I've come a long way.

I felt bad. I didn't like the way I looked. I didn't have any self-confidence. Women weren't interested in me. Also, I've paid out some money to do what I've done. A total of about $1300. That will motivate one to make a weight loss program work. :) I am a lifetime member at the clinic now, though. The classes they have there help keep me on track. Just going and being around people who are in the same boat helps, too. I also carry a picture of myself from when I weighed 290. I show it to people who need a boost when it comes to dropping some weight. That helps me as well.

If you knew me 7 years ago you would probably think differently :D. I was one crazy hell raiser back then. I've always known what the right thing to do was, but actually doing it was a different story. I've had several people here tell me that they look up to me when I tell them a little story about where I've been, what I used to be like, and what I've accomplished. I look up to people, too, but my real strength comes from believing in myself. Since I left the comfort of my parents' protection, no one has helped me accomplish anything. I've done it myself.

I bet that you have accomplished a great deal in your life. I don't really know you all that personally, but I do know a few things. You probably have a college degree; maybe even a post-graduate degree. You've got a job that you like and you are a reliable employee. You have a beautiful home. You know how to speak at least two languages. You are a kind person. And that's just what I can gather from what you have posted here. I'm sure I would find a lot more great things about you if I were to get to know you personally.

19. You got it pretty good
regarding me. I studied library science and have a bachelor degree. Not sure if that is a post-graduate degree though, I doubt it.

I believe my two biggest accomplishments are that I went away from my family for one year to be a nanny in the U.S. at the age of 19. People told me that was brave - I don't see it that myself. It was one of the best decisions ever since my self esteem during that year got quite a boost.
The second accomplishment is that I bought this condo. It is a very adult decision. And I am proud I made it.

If I would have went to Germany when I was 19 to spend a year there I would have been totally lost. I'm afraid I probably would have been an ugly American, too. :D

23. In the beginning
I pretty much stayed home and didn't meet other people. But then my guest-mom kicked me in the ass and told me to go to a meet-up with other nannies and people who came from Germany/Austria/Switzerland. And Americans who spoke German. That was the beginning of my self esteem. I am very grateful to my guest-mom that she made me go there.

I speak a little spanish from what I can remember from my junior high days, but a remember very little. I'm going to have to invest in a spanish keyboard. Do they make such a thing? I'm sure they must. I start classes on Wednesday. I've got my books and I'm ready to roll.

I hope you are doing okay today. What do you do for a living? Have you found that your bilingual skills have helped you on the job?

Great picture!

Sounds like you were busy at your Saturday job. Do you work every Saturday or do your hours fluctuate during the week.

I made some fabulous pasta on Friday night. Just used stuff that was around the kitchen, but it did turn out good.

Rowed on Saturday and went to a party yesterday, and of course took care of those pesky domestic chores, so I guess I had a full weekend.

And Monday is here already. *sigh*

I hope not to work every Saturday. When I applied I wrote in my letter that I want to work in the evenings. I was supposed to work Monday and Friday this week. But the hours they put me on Friday were conflicting with my working hours at my main job. So I work coming Saturday again. I hope it will change in the coming weeks. They now know at what time I can start working during the week.

OMG!!! That sounds very yummy. I had me rice with turkey meat and peas yesterday.

40. A few hours in the evening
is far better than working weekends. When I had my part-time job, I worked both, but everyone took turns on the weekends, which was fair. Hope they get your schedule straightened out soon.

Ohhhh . . . rice and turkey sounds good too. There was so much food at the party yesterday, we were all sent home with care packages, so I don't think I'll have to cook for the next several days. It's nice coming home from work and just have to heat something up. I reserve any "heavy duty" cooking for the weekends which I can enjoy the process.

Ohhh .... goodie. It is a great read. True. Beautiful and sad. And now we have this situation in the Iran when people start to fight for their rights. I think the Ayatollahs are scared right now. I follow it closely. I hope the protesters continue.

It was devastating to read how Afghanistan was compared to how it is now. It was a very smart book, in it's commentary. For some reason, it seems that humans are good at instituting a culture of fear to suppress each other.

the people in the GDR and Russia and all those other Easter European countries were lucky during their dictatorships (except Romania). I can't imagine living in a country where some crazies forbid everything that makes the live fun like singing and dancing. And where women are nothing except breeding bodies and cooks in the eyes of those crazies.

What is an "Ebbelwei pub"? (Of course, pubs would catch my eye!:P)

I forgot that Goethe was born there. I love old churches and cathedrals. I love any historical places and even like to shlepp around old cemeteries.

If you ever come to Key West, you have to visit the Key West cemetery, where just about all the graves are above ground. One is even up on stilts, because the occupant had a fear of drowning!

Another says, "I told you I was sick". She was supposedly a well-known hypochondriac.

There is another rumored to be in there that says, "Now at least I know where he's sleeping at night", but I think that is only legend, because I have never found it.

82. Ebbelwei
is a speciality here in Frankfurt. Ebbelwei is Applewine. I am not a big fan of it though.

I LOVE old cemetaries as well. And those inscriptions are hilarious. I even went to the Bonaventure Cemetary in Savannah and took a bunch of b/w pictures.
Also when I was in Paris in October last year I went to the cemetaries there. It is so interesting. Compared to back then our gravestones are boring

83. I like cider; is it like cider?
Very fond of German beer, though. And wine.

Did you go to the one in Paris with Jim Morrison? Is that the same one with Gertude Stein?

84. I think it is
So you would like it. There is even an "Ebbelwei Express" an old streetcar that drives through Frankfurt and you can drink the applewine on board :)

We (I went with Eurobabe aka 48percenter) went to both cemetaries. Pere Lachaise (where Jim Morrison is buried) and to Montparnasse. If you want I can send you a link to my photobucket account so you can look at the pictures.

85. Yes, send the link.
Not as good as being there, but that would be a fun virtual experience.

The streetcar sounds like fun. Is the applewine warm or cold?

missed the match, had too much other stuff to do. That and a text from my team manager saying he wasn't going. The women pros play this weekend, and I'll be there. They're still undefeated!

87. Good Morning, MissHoneyChurch and fellow Loungers.
It's nice to see you all here today. :)

We are having gorgeous weather in PA. Sunny, low humidity, the kind of day you wish you could put into a box and take out in January.

Have a pleasant Monday, everyone. :hi:

We are going away later in the week, and I want to get everything planted before then.

I'll be thinking of you as I plant my summer bulbs.
