I don't even want to think about it, but it's possible. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it.

1. Me
I would probably be unable to leave the house for weeks. I have to admit, some sick part of me would be hoping he screws this country up more than he already has, just to prove to his supporters what a "major league asshole" he is.

3. This question presents something of a paradox for me. I honestly, don't
think that he can win. Yes, he appears to be relatively strong if you focus on polls or rely on the mainstream media. But, I believe strongly that the bulk of the American public is liberal minded, and Bush and his regime have genuinely offended our collective consciousness over the past four years. I think that the high voter turnouts in the primaries is an indication of an impending voter revolt. Bush will be out on his ass in November.

At the same time, I recognize that there is a lot of time yet to pass between now and then. If things continue as they are (which is highly unlikely), then Bush should implode sometime around mid-summer. If Osama is found, or another dramatic terrorist attack happens (G-d forbid) things could shift dramatically.

As it stands right now, I think GWB would have a better chance of playing pick-up-sticks with his butt cheeks than he does of being re-elected. Then again, that confidence could lead to a real sense of loss, frustration, desperation on my part if (by some miracle) he should win. In that case, I guess the answer to your question would be "yes."

Oh shit, I don't know. If I had the power to predict the future, I wouldn't be here writing this message right now. I'd be out buying up lottery tickets with all the winning numbers.

My brain hurts.

4. I'm sure of it
I'll have a continuation of the rage, the constant sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and the panic attack I experienced on January 18, 2001 just at the thought of what was to come. I will be in my third year of law school as of November 2004 - if for some insane reason Bush is re-selected, I hope it will make me even more determined to pursue a legal career in which I can fight him and his Neanderthal policies at every turn.

5. Not really
I figure that by losing in November, Bush will save himself from a reputation of infamy. As it is, history will regard him as a dangerous ninny, but by 2008, he will probably be judged to be the very worst president we've ever had.

Cold comfort, I know.

If Bush wins in November, he'll leave the White House in leg irons under massive guard to protect him from the people who hate him for destroying the economy, reducing Republican Party voter registration from 48% to 11%, reducing church attendance from 61% to 25%, forcing gas to $15/gallon, precipitating an environmental disaster causing half the world to be hit with a famine and requiring massive resettlement, waiting two weeks to act while the Internet was taken down by a series of viruses of unknown origin, and completely missing the terrorist strikes which ...

... oh, never mind. The butterfly has flapped her wings.

Our country is going down so fast, but for a few rich. it is hard to take.

7. The thing of it is, some of those Americans include my family and friends.
It's really getting hard.

Now that my eyes have been opened, I can't understand why it isn't obvious to others, too. I pulled a huge political turn-around since 9-11 and the Bush butt-kissing that went on afterward. The lies became so transparent I have trouble understanding how anyone could believe anything that comes out of *'s mouth.

Then again, I was late in realizing it. Why did it only become obvious to me after 9-11?

9. He could win.
But he would have to steal it again. Kerry is a fighter. He would not give up as easily as Gore.

Nixon won. Look what happened to Nixon.

If he wins, we all continue to fight him. I will cry, but I will pick myself up, too, like everyone else here.

16. I think so
My grief for my country and rage at Republicans will be overwhelming. I know I will eventually incorporate the loss as I have others, but it will take a long time.

I know I will be OK, but I fear others may not.Things could get violent.

If the worst happens, we need a place to vent and get ideas of how to recover. I think it will be here on DU.

17. I'm already having them
to a degree that I've had to sort of shut off the inputs. I've stopped reading Buzzflash and reduced the amount of news I take in because it makes me too angry. It's like okay, he's an evil piece of shit already. It's beyond proven, and I don't need to know anything else.

I'm pretty sure I'll have trouble speaking to my mom if the Evil War Chimp gets another four years, because of the likelihood of my son (now 15) getting shipped off to die in some bullshit PNAC war. My son is the oldest of four grandsons. How she can continue to support this pack of criminals is a huge point of contention.

Since the tide started turning against them, though, I've become optimistic, and I'm clinging to that. I choose to believe he will lose. It will be a huge crushing blow if it turns out I'm wrong.

19. Yes, I Am Certain I Will
I went in to a deep funk after the Democrats lost the Senate in 2002. My worst fears happened; the USA went to war, the Senate has simply removed Democrats from the most important issues, and the ugly fights over federal judges continue.

To make it worse, I live in Maryland, and the voters here elected a republican governor for the first time in decades. I loathe Bob Erlich, and I am praying he will be a one-term wonder.

24. My "emotional issues" started the night I watched the first bomb fall
.
.
.

on Baghdad.

I still got that feeling in my stomach,

you know that feeling when you were coming home "late" from a date,

and the lights on made you realize the parents were waiting ??

The BFEE scares the shit outta me

They know no bounds with their lies and dirty tricks

I find it scary that the polls are indicating that he still has approval of over 40% of the voters - -

That's just TOO FRIGGEN CLOSE for me to feel comfortable about November . .

(sigh)

oh, so I guess the short answer to the posted question would be

YES

28. Don't freak out, ORGANIZE!
There's a million things you can do, legally and morally to strike blows against the Empire.

Imagine a land stacked coast-to-coast with tin cans. Each of those tin cans are labeled "Whoop-Ass". And of all the people in the country, you and you alone are in posession of the only can opener -- THE CAN OPENER OF POWER!
One Can Opener to Whup them all,
One Can Opener to Schtupp them all
And as you crack open those cans with your mighty implement of liberation, a throng, a multitude, a horde, a NATION rises up to loose the contents of those cans of Whoop-Ass upon the base and soiled scoundrels who have rent our nation in twain!

YOU HAVE THE POWER!
THE CAN OPENER IS YOURS!

And you lead the nation to victory over the enemies of freedom!

And that's my vision.

--bkl
