My husband and I are thinking of heading down to Asheville (from Virginia) sometime this coming weekend (Mar. 20-21) for a few days to look around again; we've been flirting with the area for years and think we might make a move sometime this spring/early summer.
Anyway, two questions:
1) Is anything going on in the area this weekend that would make it hard to get a hotel room?
2) Anybody wanna meet a fellow DU'er for a drink or coffee one of the days we're there?
Thanks for the info, I hope my husband and I can meet some of you!

I'm not in Asheville! *But* as a native North Carolinian I'd like to say that Asheville is a beautiful, beautiful place. Seems like a pretty progressive place in some ways--at least that's the sense I got there when visiting. I've enjoyed July's "Belle Chere" music/street festival several years in a row. I always have lots of fun then.
Also, "Malaprops" bookstore downtown is cool and the grocery store called "Earth Fare" too.
Good luck--I hope you have a great time!
If you're ever in Durham, NC this fellow DU'er will meet you for a cuppa joe.

9. Thanks for the info Lex! |
|
and thanks, JanMichael/Stephanie for the info and kicks. I'll know more about our schedule in a few days. We may postpone a bit to avoid large crowds b/c we're going to be looking closely at available land & housing. I know both are quite costly in the Asheville area.
If we do drive through Durham, I'll email you!
