2. Yeah, right there with ya.
I keep telling myself to remember this in August & it's 98 degrees on the Midcoast. It doesn't help.

14. May cat has just given up on staying dry.
If it's pouring she just goes out anyways. She's pissed about it, but better out and wet than in.

29. my cat is happy
She's really ancient and bright sunlight bothers her eyes. All this gray has her out and about more than usual. Last I saw, she was headed toward the back of the garage. Hopefully she'll leave the skunk alone...the garage has only just lost its fragrance today.

I think that's something people further south than us experience.

21. Around here we experience hot and humid.
At 10:30 a.m. the temperature is 92F with humidity of 54% which gives a heat index of 101F. When I first moved here, the summers were very hard on me, but I've become more acclimated over the years. They are still uncomfortable, but I handle it a lot better now.

I rarely wish for rain around here- especially in the summer. Usually, we get it in the form of a hurricane.

hot and sticky. So we're still stuck indoors. :(

22. my dogs are petty ticked off
I would let them sit out in the rain, but all Jake wants to do is stalk the skunk that now lives under the garage. And roll in the skunked brambles and weeds. He has already been skunked once, 2 days ago. I *refuse* to let him get skunked a 2nd time. Luna apparently was nearby and got 2nd hand skunked. The only thing worse than a skunked dog is 2 wet, re-skunked dogs.

Every time I look at the 10-day forecast I see 10 days of rain. I'm scheduled for an Open House on July 8. Will it have stopped raining by then?

The good news is it apparently is keeping the bugs too wet to be out and about. Also my pastures are looking gorgeous. And the ponies are getting a daily shower.

28. not any more, mercifully
The 1st evening was not great, as it was too late to head to a store and all I had on hand for potential tomato-deodorizer was half a jar of Newman's Own spaghetti sauce, which I refused to use.

So instead, I dragged Jake into the shower with me and washed him with my personal shampoo. So he was down to lavender fragrance mixed with 'overripe onions' mostly emanating from under his chin.

Luna actually came in wet, so I think he tried to de-smell himself by swimming through the swale. He still gave off occasional whiffs, but was definitely not as bad.

Cold, wet and windy as it's been, I'm sleeping with windows open, creating a cross-breeze that blows their lovely fragrance away from my head, lol. Electric blanket keeps me from freezing.

Today I scolded Jake away from the garage. He laid down on the path next to the garage and got a follow-on rinse from the rain. I'm not smelling any skunk this afternoon, so either it worked or my nose is so stuffed up it's not getting through any more.

26. No shit! It's been just about every day in June, and it shows no sign of stopping.
June is usually the month of my favorite weather, seventies and sunny, beautiful weather that makes you need to go outside. Not this year, except for a day here and there. And not only is it constant rain, it's also colder than normal; you'd never know it's summer! Then as soon as the rain stops, it will probably be extremely hot and humid for the rest of the summer, which means no good outdoor weather. :-(

Our heat index (what the temp + humidity makes it feel like) is 109.

I'd love a steady, week-long rain. We've been getting little drizzles that just add to the humidity.
