3. I've been in awe...and saddened

I've been thinking the same thing....
An entire country uprising...
Their willingness to die in the name of justice.

We are a nation of sheep.

peace~

4. Because it was more obvious that there was something fishy about Iran's election?
Just guessing.

12. How?
Since when does "our guy didn't win" = "stolen election"?

5. Corporate controlled/owned Media told us the elections were on the up and up.
I guess most Americans wanted to believe that was true.

And anyone saying otherwise were just SORE LOSERS! and should GET OVER IT!

7. There are a number of potential answers to that.
And they're all bad.

9. Because people still more or less had faith in the system, despite some stolen elections
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 11:14 AM by Hippo_Tron
People in Iran aren't protesting simply because of a stolen election. They are protesting because they have a lot of pent up grievances and the stolen election was merely the spark to ignite the fire.

Despite the fact that you might get a different impression from DU, I would venture to say that most people who voted for Gore and Kerry still had faith in the American system of government and American Democracy even if close elections occasionally get stolen.

BTW, I don't believe 100% that Ohio was stolen in 2004. I do believe that there is cause for reasonable doubt about its results and thus I wish it had been investigated more thoroughly. And if taking to the streets would've achieved that then well, maybe we should have taken to the streets.

10. Because they are more willing to believe that it could happen in a place like Iran than in the U.S.
Pretty simple.

11. I think one reason might be, there are a lot of stupid morans out there,

who think protesting is "bad." I mean, they think of it as being "disobedient," like a child doing something that she's been forbidden to do, something "bad."

I believe some people's mindset is so much into the always obey-authority mode that that is how they think.
