After months of speculation, the 10-year marriage of Jon & Kate Plus Eight's stars Kate and Jon Gosselin appears to be coming to an end, a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE.

Documents to initiate a legal split were filed in Pennsylvania Monday afternoon.

she views this as their 'job' so they can give the kids a million dollar home on 20 acres, whatever they want, etc.

Those two are living proof that people don't have problems compromising when it comes to money. I wish that social services would intervene at least and get them to stop filming that show, because it is abusive to exploit these kids as they go through this divorce right now.

When I saw the post about the divorce, I thought, "At least the kids can get out of the spotlight they were thrust in to."

Your post made me thinking of a bumper sticker I saw over the weekend. The "BOR" in the word "ABORTION" were crossed out in red with the letters "DOP" inserted above it. It made me think "I wonder how many children this person has adopted? Have they adopted any disabled kids, older kids, minorities, or only healthy, white infants?" People are so smug with their "alternatives" to abortion until it comes to the reality of it. Sorry, that was OT. Carry on...

26. They were sure scamming viewers just to collect the loot & trips

for themselves & the kids. This season it's been nothing but TLC & other product placements - like those four $7,000 a pop Crooked Houses the kids got last night, the motorcycle from Orange County chopper for Jon, the trips to Utah, the beach, Hawaii, etc. Now it comes out they've been living apart for 2 years - yet the 2 scammers "renewed their wedding vows" last season in Hawaii.

Jon & Kate Divorce Papers: Lived 'Separate And Apart' TWO YEARS

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Kate Gosselin says in divorce papers that she and her husband Jon have lived "separate and apart" for at least two years. Gosselin filed for divorce Monday in Montgomery County Court in Pennsylvania, saying in papers that her 10-year marriage is "irretrievably broken."

The star of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" also says they have been unable to agree on dividing their assets.

The Gosselins had portrayed themselves as happy until the past few months, even renewing their wedding vows in Hawaii last year.

The divorce filing was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.
