I am absolutely terrible at networking. Although I have plenty of friends and acquaintences, none of them are terribly useful for job searching or my career.
Right now, I am working in a biology laboratory at the local university. I don't work with many people, and I haven't been able to expand my contact list at all working in this position. Because I do research, but am not a grad student (i.e. not sent to conferences), I don't have many contacts outside the lab.
Basically, while I was working hard in grad school and undergrad, other students were getting shittier marks, but making more contacts. Those people seem, to me, to have found a lot more success in their careers than I have.
So help me out, DUers. I really don't have the least idea how to network and get myself out there. Any hints or resources you have would be very helpful. Anecdotal information about how you got jobs through contacts or have hired people through contacts would also be very helpful.

2. Just remember to re-synch your subnet mask ever time you de-compile your dhcp stack. |
