I'm looking for an ad that OVERhypes patriotism, any suggestions? |
|
I'm doing a paper on the topic of the media profiting off of September 11th and the American flag. I'm looking around for advertisements, but I need to find some that happened right around September 11th, 2001 for what I'm trying to do. Does anyone know of some sites that highlight such information? Can anyone remember an ad that they thought did a really horrible job of trying to sell their product as being the MOST patriotic? Thanks for any help you can give. I've been searching the internet for half an hour without finding 2001 ads.

1. There was an insurance company that lost some people in 9/11 |
|
They ran an ad promoting their company with people talking about their dead coworkers.

But you might find it interesting that using the US Flag in an advertisement is contrary to the US Flag Code, enacted in 1976, and can be punished by a fine and jail time.
For old TV spots, go to adweek.com and look for links to creative sites. You may have to subscribe to be able to view, though.
