If there is a God, a merciful God, a loving God, a forgiving God, is Hitler in heaven? |

4. He plays parcheesi with Reagan and Dick Cheney every Thursday. |
|
Cheney's not dead yet, but he's not completely alive, either, so his soul manages to make the trip once a week.

7. Heaven? Hard to say. But he can't be in hell. |
|
Hitler was only a man of limited understanding and very short lifetime (cosmically speaking), and his crimes, unspeakable as they were, can't possibly merit **eternal** punishment. If the soul is eternal and God is truly merciful and understanding, then the possibility for rehabilitation must exist.
Finite beings in finite lives cannot possibly commit sins of enough magnitude to merit **eternal** punishment. Especially since God, being omniscient, must have known all along that they were going to do so and could have prevented them if he chose. If Heaven is real, wouldn't it have been better for Hitler--not mention his millions of victims--if he'd died of some disease as a child? He would have been innocent and his salvation not in question.
Taking these popular beliefs about omniscience, sin, and evil to their logical conclusion, the only being ever potentially powerful enough to make decisions that, executed wrongly, deserve **eternal** hopeless punishment in hell is...God.
