1. I have a good website for you to check out.
http://www.dslreports.com/

You will find all the info you desire (and more) at that site.

I don't have any experience with RR, so I can't give you any personal thoughts.

2. Seems OK to me...
...seems a few notches faster than my former DSL connection, and comparable to the (shared) T1 connection at the office.

My big complaint is that the customer service line is always busy... but that's more related to my cable TV than the internet connection.

3. I had it in Tampa.
No complaints here. At the time, download speeds were over 2MBps. It's probably faster than that now. I've had Verizon DSL, Road Runner, and I'm currently with Comcast; all in different regions of the US (PA,FL,MD). I can honestly say, I never had problems with any of them. IMHO I think most broadband complaints are related to either outdated hardware or user error.

5. I agree
I've had a bunch of cable connections, but my current RR is the FASTEST ever!!! Actually beats a T1 most of the time!!!

Depends on your location, the condition of the local equipment, etc.

I've never had a problem with any of them, but RR in Northeast Ohio is DAMN fast!!!

4. LOVE Roadrunner.
It's like having a T1 at home. No complaints at all. Fast as hell.

And you can easily use a router to create a LAN with all computers serving each other and connected to the Internet. (They don't officially "support" using a router but it's easy; especially with a Macintosh.)

6. we've had it for about a year
it is super fast. i could never go back to dialup.

sometimes you may have to reboot the cable modem, but that only takes a few minutes, and it has only happened about three times in a year.

7. necessity
you could take away my cable tv, and i would barely miss it...but take away my cable modem, and i'll get the shakes...

a couple of years back, my provider at the time sold their franchise to supply my town to another, more bankrupt, provider. in the process, they had to shut down the high speed cable modem service for an "indeterminate" amount of time. i didnt last the first week before i found a substitute..
