Do Bush's facial expressions give away his lies? |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 01:45 AM by elperromagico
I seem to recall reading somewhere that one of the sure signs of deception that investigators look for is a facial expression where the eyebrows are pulled together and a wrinkle is formed above the nose. It's called a microexpression, I believe.
Anyway, I was watching a clip of a Bush speech recently, and I thought I saw Bush make this microexpression. Has anybody else ever heard of it, and is it a sure sign that he's lying? We know he's lying, but does it show on his face?

Unfortunately, I think there's another explanation for that particular expression. It also appears when a person is trying to be sure they recite a script correctly, sing a song correctly or make a speech correctly -- i.e., anything involving the recitation of words, as opposed to the speaking of words extemporaneously.
In either case, it's pretty funny the secret is now out. I've personally watched Bush do this since the 2000 campaign -- it started about the same time he got some coaching and stopped smirking in public. Now, you'll see him start to smirk, and he'll drop into that knitted-brow expression.
Kinda like watching a puppet, eh?

I don't think Bushie speaks off the cuff, truly off the cuff, very often. He did it in the MTP interview with Russert, and looked like a superficial moron.
My point is, I think Bush is reciting scripts just about all the time, when he's on camera or appears in public. I think he must have an acting coach, and the Pubbie suits must work with Bush, very closely, to achieve the modicum of presentability he has achieved.
I personally think Bush's public appearances have all been scripted, since the middle of 2000. Handlers govern everything. When they don't, he looks like he did with Russert. A gibbering moron.

7. Well yes, he has a set of all-purpose lines he uses for any question. |
|
"Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator who gassed his own people" is one example.

most people look to thier left, dart thier eyes around the room, or whatnot, its different for every person, one thing that CANT be changed though is, people's pupils diolate(sp?) when they know thier lying, thats where the whole 'look me in the eyes' thing came from.

8. I have always noticed it too! It's not just the smirk, it's combined |
|
with a bit of a squint. Don't know how to explain it but it's always when he says something that is insincere and obviously a lie that I can spot immediately.

12. No. But I see how it is easy to make that mistake. He always |
|
has that dumb-assed smirk on his face. When his lips move he lies. So it is easy to think one is a result of the other.
