I don't like the beatles all that much.
Maybe it is because they were way before my time but I can't get into them. The only song they sing that I like goes like this I think I love you but what am I so afraid of.

4. Well, gee, Bach was 'way before my time,
but I listen to Bach all day sometimes, and it makes me very happy.

That "lyric" you quoted doesn't look familiar - maybe you weren't listening to the Beatles.

They changed music in the world, they changed rock'n'roll, they changed hairstyles and sometimes it seems like they changed everything. I'm sorry you can't have that experience, because it was really amazing. Before Beatles and then Everything Beatles.

I don't think any of the groups today would exist if it weren't for the Beatles.

Check out your hair - it looks like that because of the Beatles. No, really, it's true.

But, not liking them is fine, naturally. What a drag of a world it would be if we all liked the same stuff.

Maybe sometime you'll get curious and give them a listen. The music, the voices, the harmonies, they wrote almost all of their own material, and they changed the world...........................

6. Worry not
Beatle-mania WILL catch up with you.

It will come at a moment you least expect. Perhaps when the night is dark and all is quiet, a shining vision of Ringo Starr will appear at the foot of your bed. He will show you the error of your ways. He will show you a vision of music had the Beatles' never existed. It will be grim. There will be more banjos and ukeleles.

You will come to realise that you LOVE the Beatles, and that you owe them much...yeah, yeah, yeah

And the influence they've had on music (especially pop music, but the influence has reached other genres as well).

They're no Deathspell Omega though.....

15. I guarantee that 50 years from when you're an old man
People will still be listening to the Beatles. They changed popular music completely. 99.9999% of the bands your generation thinks are great will be nothing more than minor footnotes in the history of music. Just because an artist is before your time doesn't mean a damn thing.

22. You just need a little perspective
Life before The Beatles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqjVAgT74_A

Then The Beatles come along
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWdqh2PPvTI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz7IjXu0DfQ

Which led to this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfX3tMw15MA

So I can understand you not digging The Beatles. It's cool.

24. They weren't before my time, but I've never been a Beatles fan.
There are a few songs that I like, but a lot of the stuff they did when they were first getting widespread recognition really wasn't that good, it was just different. I really got sick of the overexposure.

30. They did contribute to the flow of musical structue...
Pioneers and creators.

I dislike a number of their songs and I cannot stand John H. Lennon (H = Hypocrite), but I can appreciate their musical contributions. (Indeed, Ike Turner had a nasty cocaine addiction and often beat Tina senseless (maybe he and Lennon got together for a jam session... :puke: ) But I won't deny the strong influence he also had on the musical industry; he was arguably more a pioneer than the Beatles ever were when it comes to the rock'n'roll genre.)

Plus, by the late 1960s, other bands also contributed and eclipsed the style. Inevitable for any band, especially trailblazers.

Besides, everyone knows Simple Minds is the best-ever band... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWAC4UeWGd0 :D
