7. This is an amazing cake--
Gâteau au chocolat fondant de Nathalie

- 200g (2 sticks minus 1 Tbsp) butter
- 200g (7 oz) dark chocolate
- 200g (1 C) sugar
- 4 eggs**
- a rounded tablespoon of flour

Note: like all dark chocolate cakes, this cake is best made a day ahead (or at least in the morning if you serve it for dinner).

Pre-heat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper (no need to if you're using a non-stick pan).

Melt together the butter with the chocolate (in a double-boiler or in the microwave slowly and for just a few seconds at a time, blending with a spoon between each pass). Transfer into a medium mixing-bowl. Add in the sugar, stir with a wooden spoon and let cool a little. Add in the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition. Finally, add in the flour and mix well.

Pour the dough into the pan, and put into the oven to bake for 30 minutes. Turn the oven off but leave the cake inside for another ten minutes, then put the pan on a cooling rack on the counter to cool completely. Cover with plastic wrap, refrigerate, and take it out about an hour before serving.

**Some versions use 5 eggs. I think that's what I used, and it came out fine. You may need to bake it a little longer than 30 minute,s but do not bake so long that it gets hard. You want it to have a somewhat gooey consistency in the middle.

If you google "Gâteau au chocolat fondant de Nathalie," you find several versions and opinions on the receipe. Another good reference for this recipe is

http://orangette.blogspot.com/2004/08/and-then-cake-came-forth.html

She uses 5 eggs. You might want to read both websites before trying this recipe, but it's really easy and gets oh so many compliments. Enjoy!

6. I had this great recipe with sweet green icing
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 10:36 AM by LynneSin
and damnit, I left that cake out in the rain. I know I know, I should have checked the forecast first but hell I was just inspired ot put it out there. And all that sweet green icing was flowing down. And you can't begin to imagine just how long it took me to bake that cake, it took so long to bake it. What's worse is that after I made the cake I burned the recipe, I just thought "I've made this great cake with sweet green icing so why waste space keeping the recipe". Oh I'll never ever have that recipe again OH NO

9. I did this one for a teachers luncheon and got rave reviews...didn't get to try it myself
Flourless Chocolate Cake I SUBMITTED BY: Maggie PHOTO BY: Allrecipes

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup white sugar
18 (1 ounce) squares bittersweet chocolate
1 cup unsalted butter
6 eggs

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease one 10 inch round cake pan and set aside.
In a small saucepan over medium heat combine the water, salt and sugar. Stir until completely dissolved and set aside.
Either in the top half of a double boiler or in a microwave oven melt the bittersweet chocolate. Pour the chocolate into the bowl of an electric mixer.
Cut the butter into pieces and beat the butter into the chocolate, 1 piece at a time. Beat in the hot sugar-water. Slowly beat in the eggs, one at a time.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Have a pan larger than the cake pan ready, put the cake pan in the larger pan and fill the pan with boiling water halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
Bake cake in the water bath at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for 45 minutes. The center will still look wet. Chill cake overnight in the pan. To unmold, dip the bottom of the cake pan in hot water for 10 seconds and invert onto a serving plate.

Use really good quality chocolate, and it impresses just about anyone who eats it.

11. This salad dressing cake is almost as easy as a mix. It makes a rich, moist cake.
Salad Dressing Cake with Cocoa

2 Cup flour

2 tsp baking soda

pinch of salt

4 Tablespoons Cocoa
1 cup sugar

1 cup salad dressing (like Miracle Whip)

1 cup water

1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dry ingredients, add salad dressing, water and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9 by 13 inch pan. Bake for 35 minutes in 350 degree oven.

I have used other brands of salad dressing, however, and it came out fine.

23. My secret ingredient is...
organic coconut oil instead of veg oil. I reccommend the Garden of Life brand, because it is not overprocessed and has a wonderful coconut smell and flavor. Works for other cakes as well!
