3. Did they recommend heat for a pinched nerve in your neck? |
|
I was told by the physical therapist that heat can aggravate the nerves in my neck & to use ice instead. But whichever works for you! Hope you feel better soon. I know first hand how difficult a problem with one's neck can be.

heat and moisture for the spasming. I had read on line that ice was better. But thats what the doc said. I bought this heating product, read the warnings about blisters and burns and be careful with sensitve skin. Thank god I didn't open it. Going back tomorrow and I'm gonna ask the pharmacist what to use.

11. The gel ice pack I have works well... |
|
15 minutes on, 15 minutes off (for a couple of times in an hour). It's similar to this one: http://www.ice-packs-store.com/chattanooga_cht100hf_5.html

I think I am more comfortable with someone who has had good results with a product then the recommendation of a very hurried nurse.

I wondered why they never recommended heat, because I used heat when I had a lower back problem after a car accident many years ago. Maybe it's old school v. new school. At any rate, do get a professional opinion other than the ER. I've been to both an orthopedic surgeon and a neurosurgeon. I preferred the expertise of a neurosurgeon, personally.
Rest, and of course staying off the computer, helps a lot!
Once you've rested, and the spasms have subsided, ask your doc about physical therapy. It helped more than any meds.

13. Hope you get better soon... |
|
*hugs*
Heat, cold... take your pick. My chiropractor recommends both, but does prefer heat. Pharmacists do sell electrically powered heat pads, and there's these combination heat/ice packs: put in microwave a bit for warm, put in freezer for cold.
Take care of yourself...
Mark.

I've got one in my leg, sending shooting pains all the way to my toes. Darvacet works for me right now.
Sorry to hear about your hospital stay!
Hope you are up and around soon!
