Give me your Monopoly strategy. (yes the game doofus)
Let's say under the offical rules.

I always go for the orange properties. They are the most landed on since most folks get sent to jail at some point. I'm waiting for them when they roll doubles. I never saw the appeal of Boardwalk and Park Place. Big payouts but nobody ever landed on them.

4. Get monopolies on the yellow and green neighborhoods
Buy those six properties, build hotels on them and lay waste to the other players' bankrolls.

9. Same with me. That was the trouble
When distractions like music and girls started to come into the picture, Monopoly fell by the wayside,
even if I'll still know about Boardwalk and Park Place when I'm 99.

6. Socialism. Everybody wins.
Who says the players can't make additional rules? Throw in some taxes, rent subsidies, etc., and nobody goes broke.

14. Develop monopolies on the cheap properties early in the game and...
advance to the more expensive ones as the game advances. There is only so much money and so many houses and hotels. Control all the houses and you slow down your enemies.

He who owns Pacific Ave., North Carolina Ave., and Pennsylvania Ave and has money to develop them will win the game.

RR's monopolies are steady income builders, especially early in the game.

15. The closer to GO, the worse the property.
Edited on Sat Aug-01-09 09:55 PM by Systematic Chaos
The closer to Free Parking, the better the property.

The most hit spot on the board is Tennessee Ave., so the Orange group is your highest overall premium set with the best ROI in the game.
The purples right next door, closer to Jail, are good for the same reasons but pay less than the oranges do.

Red is almost as good, especially since one Chance card forces you to land on Illinois Ave. There's a caveat, though. The houses on the red/yellow side are 50% more expensive to build on than the orange/purple side, but the returns are only about 15% higher.

ON EDIT - Newer internet sources are claiming that Illinois Ave. is the most hit spot on the board. I believe the analysis I read in a book at the public library saying it's Tennessee is still correct, however, due to it being hit very frequently by people escaping Jail on doubles or paying out and rolling an 8. This doesn't change the fact that red and orange are your best bet!

Railroads are a huge boon, but ONLY if you have all four. At $200 per hit, and $400 with two Chance cards, a railroad monopoly is a great way to get steady income throughout the game.

Utilities aren't worth it unless you can steal them at auction for a fraction of their $150 price and you pretty much have to own both for it to even matter.

It's especially important to ignore green, royal blue, dark blue and light blue if you can help it. These properties aren't hit as often (mostly due to the huge Jail space in the way), and have horrible overall ROI. Light blue might be worth a look if you can get them and build them to hotels immediately, but otherwise leave them alone.

Hope that helps!

16. You forgot one thing!
The number 7! The most rolled number with 2 dice. The reason why the purple properties near the jail are landed on less than the orange!
