Huge Sherlock Holmes fan and just heard about the book. Amazon give it mixed reviews. Anyone read it? If so, Would love to hear a review.

you won't put it down. Whether you are a history buff or a historical fiction buff you won't be disappointed. His descriptions of the streets of New York city at the time are incredible and full of real history. I lived in ny from 1960 to 1991, so I could "slightly" imagine what he was describing. He is known to be a historian so he knows of what he writes. The newly discovered science of "fingerprinting" is just fascinating!
