Anyone else harvesting their home-grown tomatoes yet?

I picked good ones this year!

The Romas are ripening first. I use them for sun dried and red sauce.

The San Marzano's are lagging behind, but I've tasted a few and they're amazing.

The slicing tomatoes are still green, but getting FAT!

But the Italian Golds.. OMG, so delicious. I ate the first one I picked, right off the vine. It tasted like a peach! I've never had a tomato like that. For dinner I had a BBQ chicken sandwich with a thick layer of sliced Italian Golds. It was practically orgasmic!

Looks like I'm going to get plenty of vitamin C this fall.

We got tomatoes coming out our ears! I even had some chopped up on my scrambled eggs this morning!

2. Every morning I wake up and grab a handful of cherry tomatos

YUM! No matter what the supermarkets do, they can never sell us tomatoes that taste as good as the ones from our backyards. It's a summer taste.

I don't think the weather has been warm enough, they don't want to turn red! I'm a newbie gardener though, so I don't know much.

8. I have more than I can eat.

For some reason the tomatoes are just going crazy this year. The cherry tomatoes are also starting to ripen, and I think I'll get a ton of them, too. And don't get me started on the pumpkin. I planted one plant, just as an experiment, and the damn thing is enormous now. The leaves are a foot across and the plant itself takes up an area about 7 x 7. It scares me. I will stay away from the squash family next year.

and gonna be canning more this weekend. Eating them with nearly every meal. LOL Still lots of green ones coming out in the garden. :9

The northeast's weather sucked rocks this summer. My garden is lame, lame, lame. And more rain is predicted for this week.

11. We've been eating them since June 1st.

Of course I bought the six-packs of plants in March. Early Girl, Beefsteak, and another one but I can't recall the name. My season is kind of winding down and I wish I had started a second planting in June for harvesting in September and October. I've been eating a lot right off the vine, biting into them still hot from the sun.

12. Great harvest in spite of the blight.

My plants look kind of weird with no bottom leaves, but the tomatoes are huge and abundant.

We have had yellow cherry tomatoes for weeks, and have been getting tons of red tomatoes for the past two weeks. I planted about a dozen heirloom tomatoes from the county extension plant sale.

I bought four lousy yellow pear tomatoes in Walmart and they gave everything else the blight. It hasn't harmed the fruit though. I have three colanders of gorgeous garden tomatoes on the counter right now.

13. We only have a few this year - we tried planting them in pots and an

upside down hanger. Wegot some very good tomatoes from all of our plants early, but just not a lot of fruit - I don't know if it could be called a success, but they all are just great to eat, as always.

14. Would you believe they're all still green?

No sun, too much rain (plants are rotting from the ground up--orange with black spots--nice for Halloween but not for tomato plants in "summer"--and I do use that term loosely this season). This year's garden was a bust except for the beans. x(

I did get to enjoy some grape tomatoes while visiting my brother and SIL in California. Very tasty!!

20plus a week, our Bell Peppers are doing horrid though...damn thing are no bigger than quarter size.
