I don't 'hate sick people', but I do dislike being around them intensely, which is the primary reason I opted NOT to become a nurse. Except for little kids. I don't mind being around sick kids. So, I suppose peds would have been an option.

Not much different than a psychologist who hates people, and I've met a few of those. While nursing is one of the few career areas with nearly guaranteed jobs left after training is something that can completely drain a person. You don't have to work in a Trauma unit or ICU to be stressed to the max every day.
