A lot round it off now a days. Sometimes you come out in the good and sometimes not. What is wrong with giving me my correct change?

Does this happen everywhere? It seems to be common practice around here.

1. It's de rigueur in Miami Beach, but I haven't seen it as common practice anywhere else.
And in the South Beach version of this, they never round in your favor.

2. Sometimes they have rounded in my favor, but even then I just
want what is due to me. I don't ever make a fuss about it, but it seems to be the common thing to do now a days. They only do it when you use cash though. Never have they rounded it on my credit card. Just weird to me.

3. What I find pretty forward and annoying is the question
"do you need change" .. hell YES I need change. I will leave a tip on the table, but I WANT my change back. Sometimes the bill is just over 10.00 and I pay with a 20.00! Yeah, I want my change back.

Please don't ASK for a tip.

6. Because we don't carry a cash register in our aprons and usually...
we figure you would rather not wait twenty minutes for your thirty seven cents and we know we don't have time to wait on your change. Although we do, for you, most of the time. Nine times out of ten you are wondering why you are out of diet coke and we are at the bar or with a manager waiting on change. Service with a smile.

12. You might want to avoid using the word legion in that way, it has bad connotations with many people.
Just a suggestion.

of coarse I think workers are not part of that bad connotation.

35. Yeah, way to go overboard there. But it is crazy because it isn't
your money to keep. After a day of keeping people's change, it starts to equal "real" money.

34. That is just wrong. It is my money that is being kept.
"Learn to cook. Stay home if it bothers you so much."

Yes, that is the solution. I should not be able to eat out because the waiter doesn't give me MY money back correctly. What kind of attitude is that? A sour one I think.

even the restaurant doesn't have it sometimes. We are a credit card based business. Throw change into it and we have none.

28. If your restaurant doesn't have enough cash, perhaps they should warn customers.
A big sign that says "Credit and Debit Cards Only" would do the trick. Servers shouldn't be in the position to stiff the customer just because of management incompetence when it comes to stocking the registers.

I appreciate waiters. I show it with my tip. I tip well and am always very polite. But I want my correct change. That is all.

Weird. It is always the same people.

29. This happened to me for the first time at a Red Robin this summer.
I asked to see the manager and told him that I expected the correct change. I also told
him that if management is expecting waiters to make change from their pockets then maybe
it was time to hire a cashier and assign the duty to that person.

I always tip well--unless I've had cruddy service and been ignored.

30. I would assume their math was probably off.
I almost always use my debit card at restaurants, but I did use cash the other day.

My bill was $26.?? and I gave the waitress $40, she asked me if I wanted my change back. I came very close to stiffing her for asking, but I ended up tipping her.
