What is the least favorite COUNTY you've ever been in?
For me, there is no doubt.

Monmouth Fricken County, New Fucking Jersey.

Ugh. Any place that prohibits you from turning left is pure, pure evil. I was back a couple weeks ago and it was just as bad as the last time I was there.

5. Hoo boy.
Okay, okay, Spiro Fricken Agnew did use to be its county executive. Seriesly. :puke:

But on the other hand, guess who was raised there from about age 4 to 11? :hi:

9. Hell, before he was county executive, he was the President of the Loch Raven Kiwanis Swim Club.
And apparently he liked to swim underneath the diving board. Until one day, my father, a lifeguard at the Loch Raven Kiwanis Swim Club, called him on swimming underneath the diving board. Until his supervisor ran over and exclaimed, "Do you know who that is? That's Spiro Agnew, the President of the Loch Raven Kiwanis Swim Club! You can't tell him where not to swim!"

True story, at least according to my dad.

24. And I once swam at a pool elsewhere in Baltimore County.
Inside a mental hospital, no less! (my school was on the grounds)

So I suppose I'm not only destined to become a repuke, but to resign from the Vice Presidency. :eyes:

10. You do know that Baltimore City is seperate from Baltimore County, right?
So if you are trying to make a knock on Baltimore City, a big fat fail to you, Natinals Turtle. :P :P :P

Actually, northern Baltimore County is actually quite scenic. They've done a good job of preserving a lot of open space there. I loved Oregon Ridge State Park as a kid.

34. Okay, you do know that my father grew up in Parkville.
Wait, actually you don't. My bad. I guess we are even. :P

Parkville is, well, Parkville. It's basically the same type of suburban community that you'll find in most of Baltimore County, or for that matter the DC metro area, like Montgomery County. Nothing special, but nothing horrible.

I will say, however, that the house that my dad grew up in, which my grandfather (a skilled craftsman)literally built himself, is a great little house. Very classy, sturdy brick structure. Which is why it is still in my family's name to this date even after my grandparents passed away and parents moved out of Maryland, and my sister actually is now living there.

I'm painting with a broad paintbrush, but I dislike Amador County because of the Methamphetamine culture that is prevalent; it detracts from everything that could be considered nice or pretty.

3. Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska.
Yup, Sarah Palin's hometown. I went to Alaska in 2005. After a week in Nome and surrounding villages, I spent a week on the mainland. I left Anchorage to go up to Fairbanks, and went through that place. It struck me as tremendously ugly. Alaska turned into strip malls of siding and gravel, nobody lives in the towns, they all live out on parcels of land, I thought it quite dystopian long before I heard of the mayor of Wasilla.

7. I'll think I'll live.
True story about Monmouth County. So we are vacationing in NY, but are going to visit my friends in Manalapan. We take the Garden State Parkway, it's sluggish, but fine, it's an expressway in New Jersey and I'm expecting it. My friend has given me directions, and tells me exit off onto Route 9 and his house is 15 miles away.

So we get off the Parkway and excitement of excitements, we're almost there, right?

Wrong.

It takes us a fuckin' hour to travel the 15 miles to my friend's house on Route 9. An hour. Every single traffic light took a minimum of three cycles to get through, and guess what? A quarter mile ahead, another traffic light. Which is compounded even more by the fact that you can't turn left. Whatever genius who thought that eliminating left turns in Monmouth Fucking County would somehow alievate traffic was an idiotic moron.

Fucking Monmouth Fucking County Fucking New Fucking Jersey.

26. You hardly need to make any lefts to get from the GSP to Mom and R.S.'s.
He even knows a shortcut through a shopping center! How Jersey is that? You only have to bear left once, at a light (perfectly legal), and that road brings you out right across from their building.

On the down side, their building is extremely anal about non-resident riff-raff such as yourself parking during season.... :eyes:

15. I can deal with most of Jersey.
Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 08:12 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
Heck, South Jersey with the Pinelands isn't that bad at all.

But not Monmouth Fucking County. No way, no how. I hate that place with a passion. And perhaps it does have a bit to do with a crazy ex who lived there, so what? Monmouth County still sucks.

And no, they will not let you turn left in Monmouth County.

High culture in Monmouth County equals Kevin Smith movies. Enough said. Not that "Clerks" didn't have its good moments, but still, if all you've got to show to the world is Kevin Smith movies and a bunch of traffic lights with signs featuring a slash through a left pointing arrow, I'm sorry, you qualify for the worst county in America. No, the world. No, the fucking Milky Way and perhaps several other spiral shaped galaxies.

Our Band played there (via Contract) for 2 years.
Incredibly Hick. (We actually had people ask the Trumpet player: "What kind of Instrument is that"
This is the kind of town that asks the question "What was so wrong with Deliverance".

The Wealthy is this Shit Town can steal, rob, murder and never see the light of a Jail.

If you're poor, be prepared to spend 5 years in jail for stealing a fucking clock radio.
(I actually saw that happen.)
What a Right wing Fucking Shithole

But most places in this country do.

I don't care. I still like Jacksonville.

And frankly I'll take "Ignorant, Southern, Rednecks" over some of the uptight, rude-ass suburban New Yorkers I had to deal with on my recent trip there.
