Which is better for knots combs or brushes?

Now that my hair is getting a little long I have more knots in my hair.I have always used combs and it hurts sometimes when I comb my hair now. My sister says that hair brushes are better for knots.Is this true?

If you still have trouble with tangles, use a conditioner. If even that doesn't do the trick, you'll need spray-on detangler.

9. I have long very thick hair

I can't use a comb even when it isn't tangled. I can't use most brushes either. My favorites are the rubber cushioned, metal pin dog brushes but nobody makes them with out the nail head ends anymore. I like the plain straight pins. Sort of like this only without the soft bristle on the other side:


I'm stuck using a plastic pinned solid plastic base brush that I think is for styling with a blow dryer (I don't use those either they would overheat and catch on fire with my hair. Sort of like the small one, only full size:

I had to show him how to take care of it.

He conditions his hair now...huge help.
Also, start at the ends and work your way up. Don't be in a hurry or you can break your hair.
If you want to keep it long, make sure to keep it trimmed regularly.
Split ends not only look bad, they do tangle more easily.
