A random paragraph from the paper I am writing |
|
Democracy is, by definition, egalitarian in nature If equality tends to blur the distinctions between persons as James K. Galbraith suggests, inequality provides a basis on which to divide people. . Economic inequality directly leads to social inequality. At risk are our democratic norms and processes, norms of civic mindedness and civic cooperation, and the social tolerance and social capital they depend on.

1. I don't think you should include smilies in your paper. |

2. ".. and social capital on which they depend." |

Just to keep the grammar impeccable.
What's the paper's topic?
These three sentences are really all separate paragraphs. One doesn't flow into the next. That's why I'm curious about the topic.
And your first sentence is arguable. You'd better state why you think democracy is egalitarian.....................

My thesis is that economic inequality is incompatible with a democracy. Also, that inequality in this country is largely political in origin and is amenable to a political solution.

You're going into some very interesting regions with that thesis.
I like your concept of a political backdrop to economic and social standing.
Good luck with all of it.......................

Depending on the length, I may drop some of that from my thesis.
