An Apology to my Fellow DU er's
In the past I have mistakenly believed that we on the left could use truth, logic, understanding and patience to change those on the other side. I believed that if we played by the rules it would become obvious to everyone that our beliefs and values were superior. It seemed wrong to me to refer to them as Freepers, Morans or any of the other disparaging terms that one finds here because I felt that it dehumanized them, that we were sinking to their level and that we were closing our hearts and minds to legitimate ideas that were worthy of our consideration. I believed that if we reached out our efforts could build a bridge across the bipartisan divide.

I was wrong.

It becomes increasingly obvious that those on the other side have no interest in rational discussion, questioning their own motives or beliefs or supporting any measures that are for the common good. This is nothing other than a glorified sports match to them and if we all lose, then they win.

To anyone whose intelligence I have insulted; for whatever inane article I have posted; for any sarcastic comment I have posted in someone's thread; I apologize. Bipartisanship is not the answer; at least not now.

And in that spirit this link (Cream's version of "Politician") is dedicated to Max Baucus, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emmanuel and any other political hack who would appease the right in lieu of doing what is right for the people:
