What is a fair price for a used refrigerator?

Double sided, two years old in pretty good condition. I'm not sure of much else about it. The neighbor can't fit it in their basement and the delivery guy needs to bring it here or take it away.

Around here I'd offer about $100, maybe $150 tops depending on features, condition etc.

But what do I know? If he paid, let's say a $1,000, I have a feeling he'll ask for half, and I'll counter offer $400. But that may be too high. I'm not a haggler . . . my neighbor is.

Without seeing the fridge I could be way off, if it's really nice it might be worth 300-400 or better,just remember, when you're buying of an individual like that it's usually as is and if it runs for a day and quits, its yours

i'm amazed at how unrealistic people are about these things

take $25 or $50 and be happy that you're having it taken away for free

otherwise you end up paying to have it hauled off, i've seen it happen a little too often around here

pigs don't make money, they get slaughtered, as the saying goes!

go to kmart/sears and be amazed that a person can get a new one for a couple hundred bucks, why does anyone need a used fridge at all if you won't be reasonable?

as far as buying it from a neighbor, i would never do that if the neighbor involved is a "haggler," sounds like he has unreasonable expectations and that you are letting yourself be run over

just tell him you're buying a new one from a store that offers a warranty to keep peace in the neighborhood

what happens when the used fridge you overpaid for stops working in 90 days???

BTW the delivery guy needs to deliver it NOW or take it away -- that is a VERY old sales scam around here, you are definitely being played, so i wouldn't give these people any money nor would i give them any more of my time, they may be neighbors but they're also scammers -- i'm aware of this scam being used in my neighborhood as far back as 1992 AT LEAST

depending on how it looks, and if it runs. The last used fridge I got was 175, and it lasted an outstanding 3 months...:eyes:

Nowadays I wouldn't go much higher than 100 unless its got some good features, meets my needs, and is relatively new.

A new fridge usually runs around 200, unless you are going for a college dorm room fridge.
