I forgot to grab my change from self-checkout...... |
|
Today at the store and I was pissed ......at myself for having forgot. I wasn't even in a hurry or anything but it just skipped my mind for some reason.
I went back but of course it was gone, they said there was nothing they could do. Has this ever happened to you?

2. I left $20.00 in the little bin that I wanted as "cash back"... |
|
I was distracted by my kids at the checkout and forgot that I had asked for it.
I went back inside, and it was GONE.
The woman who oversees the self-checkout lines got the manager, who opened the machine and GAVE ME A TWENTY!!
One of the many reasons I like to shop at KROGER.

I didn't get anything back, the only proof I had was the receipt. They just told me there was nothing they can do which I can understand.

15. Oregon and New Jersey, I guess |
|
but the last time I was in Oregon, it wasn't much service. I had to wash my own windows and check my own fluids but had I tried to pump my own gas they could have called the cops. So I had to wait while one attendant handled other customers first.

10. Especially if someone with a heaping cart of groceries is doing a self check-out. |
|
I only use them if I have a couple of items, using my debit card, and the express line is long.

13. Except at a certain time of night, the regular checkouts are closed. |
|
This is the most oddball situation we have. I finish work late (1am), so I have two choices to shop at for groceries if my wife leaves me a message to bring something home. Wallyworld and Harris Teeter.
At Wallyworld they shut down the self checkouts and have maybe 1 to 2 cashiers serving lines that are about 7-10 customers deep. Yes it *is* that busy at 1am in the morning.
At Harris Teeter they shut down the regular checkouts and all you have is the self checkout. No lines at all - in some cases no cashier even. If you can work the self checkout correctly and cause it not to panic, you don't need the cashier. Half the time though the self checkout will panic because the weight is wrong in the bagging area and I have to hunt down the cashier who is actually stacking shelves.
I don't trust the convenience stores with the milk supply though. I have on too many occasions encountered expired gallons of milk in the fridge so I trust the grocery stores for my fresh milk since they have greater turnover and chances of having expired milk are greatly diminished.
Mark.

12. I had just finished bagging. |
|
Was about to walk away when I remembered my change. Just then, a store employee scooped it out and disappeared. I complained to management but couldn't really describe the culprit. SOL.

14. That individual had no scruples. |
|
That Harris Teeter I posted above upthread about the non-existent cashier half the time? Well, she's wonderful when she's there - she has pointed out my change on at least one occasion and on another came running to me (yes running!) telling me that I had won my grocery purchase, that I left my ticket at the register... I only made a little trip, but still $21 of free groceries is free groceries...
