So summer is almost over, did y'all get everything done that was planned. |
|
I didn't.
I a box of video tapes that I haven't copied over to DVD's.
Didn't make my movie out of piles of old photos.
Don't know where the time went.

1. For the most part, yes. |
|
Did the garden, kept the grass down, didn't get bit by a snake(yet), didn't twist my ankle wading through the gauntlet of armadillo holes in my yard, and I'm still alive. Summer was the same old same old, hot and utterly sweaty.

2. Our garden came in well, plenty to eat, keep, and give away. |
|
This summer was the summer I could walk well, no ankle or knee problems.
It was also sad in that I lost a really nice neighbor to cancer, I really miss her.
I planted several sunflower plants for her, she always planted some.
The summer was a mix of good and bad.

3. Our garden did really well |
|
except our bell peppers, for some reason those things didn't grow worth a damn, they are no bigger than 50 cent pieces. Our tomatoes did really well, they are coming out of my ears, same with squash, zuccihni, and our potato's....
Flower wise, we are doing decent, our elephant ears, marigolds, snapdragons did very well.
Our watermelons are doing so/so, but we only planted a few and two are coming up pretty decently.
Sorry about the loss of your neighbor, one of my inlaws has bone cancer, and has a penchant for seizures amongst other things. I spent a good portion of July staying with the inlaw doing my watch...its not fun.

4. Watching someone dealing with cancer is rough. |
|
Wish you inlaw well.
My sunflowers plants came in big, the heads were almost 12" across.
I am keeping some of the seeds for next year.
The birds and the bees enjoy the sunflowers.
It fun to watch them grow so big.

11. I don't get the "feeling" that we'll get one, either. |
|
Maybe a tropical depression, but I'd rather see that go in at Brownsville so The Hill Country can get replenished :D

7. I am already into fall. |
|
Have my loft decorated with fall stuff.
No more summer, it is over for me.
I feel cooler already.
Mind over matter.

September even sounds cooler.
If we had to have Ike I was glad it was in September.

Weather-wise, at least. Sunny and hot, not like June and July where it was cool and rainy.
And of course, I haven't done squat. I had planned on spending a lot more time outdoors.

15. Organic figs are just getting ripe this week or so, waiting for my |
|
new guitar to arrive, getting my amp checked out, practicing a few hours every day and getting back to daily exercise after back spasm a few weeks ago.
No long range plans at all - just let it ride.

16. Yes, it did go fast. I have to go back to school next week. |
|
I did just about everything I wanted to do. Had a great garden and survived the tomato blight without too much damage. I have bushels of tomatoes which I have been cooking and freezing.
I'm tired of the heat and humidity and looking forward to cooler weather, too.
