2. Apparently it is a new genre
and another poster made a thread on them just after I did.

3. How do they do that? How do they make the songs sound right with new words?!

5. The one fellow that makes the videos sings all the new lyrics
he mixes it and matches it on his computer.

He did a few and now others are copying him, giving him credit for the new genre.

6. No amount of mixing and matching could ever make me sound like a good singer, let alone a famous one

15. there are some music production conventions that make it possible to mostly eliminate the vocals
from a song while still retaining the rest of the music. As long as the vocals are recorded to the center (which they almost always have been since the late 60s or so), you can use phase cancellation to cut them out. Then you just record your new lyrics over it.

11. My brother used to be a huge Idol fan
I sent him the link to this video and haven't heard back from him yet - I don't know if that means he has not had a chance to watch it or no sense of humor.

12. These videos are awesome!
I have often wondered why some videos have nothing to do with the song. Now these are all about the song and video matching. Good times.

Have you seen the "judgmental video" of Britney's Toxic video?

I love that youtube is out there so the many creative folks have a place to showcase their wit, snark and humor.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned... This is my second all-time fave...

Upon edit: Okay... This has been mentioned already but attributed to Laura Branigan instead of Bonnie Tyler!
