12. My wife went to Cape Cod with her brothers - I stayed home with the dog.
He's getting old, and we won't put him in a kennel.

Besides, I don't like to travel much anymore, and I love being at home.
Have to drive down to Philly to pick her up at the train station Saturday evening.

14. Right here at home.in North Georgia.
Can't really go anywhere with my two dogs, as I do not want to put them in a kennel. I have gone up to Gatlinburg and rented a mountain cabin where I could have the dogs, but my Rottweiler is getting up in years and I now have a killer Chihuahua who thinks she is a Rottweiler, so it is a little difficult traveling with them.

21. Me, either.
I can't even remember the last time I left the state, even when I last left town is kinda bleary.

Some friends recently invited me to a "girls weekend" at an upstate lake in October--I was so excited, you have thought I was going on a major vacation. Now I just hope I'll be able to go . . . .

20. 1. Weeklong swing through northern Wisconsin and Michigan's UP
2. Long weekend with college friends at Lake Michigan -- one has a cool beach house in St. Joe.

3. Long weekend in Minneapolis/St. Paul with internet book club next weekend -- we're going to the Minnesota State Fair!

Also coming up; week in New England in early October and a long weekend in Miami in early November. Mmmm....

I'm lucky; I get lots of vacation time.

24. I need to get out of Dodge for a while.
I'm thinking Germany in a month or so, for a few weeks, to hit some wine festivals. I have some friends there who keep offering to put me up (and put up with me), and I believe this might be the year I take them up on it.
